Friday Family Message
Hello Families
For those without incoming kindergarteners, you may have yet to be aware of or attend our inaugural Kindergarten Fair, but this event was incredible! We had nearly 150 families join us Thursday evening at Stanwood High School to celebrate the incoming Class of 2036!
See some photos from the event below.
District Annual Financial Audit Complete
The SCSD is audited annually across three different areas. While the final report will be public soon, we have been preliminarily notified that we have, again, received a “clean audit.”
Teacher Appreciation Week!
This upcoming week we have the opportunity to thank our teachers!
Our teaching staff is undoubtedly incredibly hard-working and deserving of a special “thank you!”
Visit our district website all week to see some of the hundreds of messages written by our students about how our staff is making a difference in their lives.
Please join us in expressing gratitude and appreciation for our teaching force! Our teaching staff is committed to you as families and your children.
You can help us determine what curriculum will be taught to our students!
Our districtwide Curriculum Adoption Committee is currently in the process of examining potential new materials for Reading and Writing taught from kindergarten through eighth grade.
The adoption committee — consisting of a diverse group of parents, community members, administrators, and teachers with subject matter expertise — has spent the past several months reviewing a wide range of options.
Join us from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, or Tuesday, May 23, in the Lincoln Hill High School Commons to learn about and explore the various literacy curriculum choices — as well as provide valuable feedback.
Regularly updating our curriculum is critical to increasing student achievement, enhancing student engagement, and supporting teaching of standards essential to preparing students for the future of their choice. This process was paused due to the COVID pandemic but restarted this school year.
Tour the world at Culture Night
Stanwood High School is hosting a Culture Night from 6-7:30 p.m. May 23 in the SHS Commons.
This joyous event is jam-packed with colorful dances, significant songs, hands-on demonstrations, informative presentations, and tasty food samples representing various cultures.
The fourth annual event, organized by the school’s Spanish and German Clubs, is free and open to everyone in the community!
Dinner and a show!
Port Susan Middle School and Stanwood Middle School students are hosting a comedy murder mystery dinner theatre show.
Performances of “Dinner at Eight, Dead by Nine” will be from 5-7:30 p.m. May 18, 19 and 20 at Port Susan Middle School. Tickets are $15 each.
Online ticket sales are available only to students/families enrolled in the school district (follow these directions). Community members can purchase tickets in-person from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the District Office.
