Weekly Math Update
Math: Our geometry unit is full of hands-on activities with straws, pattern blocks, tangrams, etc. We're learning about various polygons such as: triangles, quadrilaterals, parallelograms, squares, rectangles, rhombuses, trapezoids, etc. We also learned about parallel lines, square corners and fractions.
Weekly Science Update
Science:
We're studying the weather and are learning all about wind, clouds, precipitation, and temperature in Celsius. Students will enjoy making weather reports and using new scientific vocabulary like a meteorologist! This week we'll practice using thermometers in the lab and next week we'll make a pinwheel to learn about wind.
Weekly Reading and Writing Update
Reading & Writing: We're about to wrap up our non-fiction unit in reading and writing. We've learned to read across different books about the same topic and have studied a wide variety of text features to use in our own writing. We also practiced paraphrasing which is putting the book's words into our own words. Students have enjoyed writing expert books about topics that are interest to them.
