HMS Bearcat Bulletin
A Note from Ms. Buschmann
I want to first of all thank parents and guardians for their attendance at recent parent/teacher conferences. Your dedication to your children and commitment to help them do well is a great part of the reason why HMS is a successful school. We were able to celebrate that success today at the Student of the Month (SOM) Assembly.
I told the students today that the SOM assembly is my favorite day of each month. I get the chance to see kids at their best every day in classrooms, but to see the kind and encouraging words that our teachers use when nominating students as well as the students' faces when they get the chance to read them is outstanding. Those nominations are based around the character trait of the month, and this month we celebrated Responsibility. The assembly featured a video from an outstanding youth speaker, Mike Smith. He shared that responsibility is not just about being on time and turning in homework, it is a responsibility to your community, environment, and fellow human being. It is a lesson that our students and adults took to heart and will try to live every day.
There is quite a bit included in the newsletter this month. I hope you take a few minutes to read it and enjoy all of the pictures. If you haven't already, please like our Facebook page for timely updates on Middle School events and daily happenings. There is a link down at the bottom of this page.
Besides working toward pieing the principal, the students earned duct tape to try to stick Mrs. Weir to the wall. You can see below she was anxiously awaiting her fate!
I enjoyed spending time with your students in the classrooms this past month; we talked about responsibility. To help the students become more responsible and self-reliant they learned how to log into Infinite Campus (IC) with their own username information. We went through the website together so they knew where to find the different information including grades, missing assignments, upcoming work, and lunch balances. In addition, the 6th through 8th grade students were allowed to bring in their cell phones to download the IC app so they would have easier access to their information. Below are snapshots of the students learning how to access IC. If you haven't yet accessed the parent portal of Infinite Campus, please comtact the middle school office for your login information.
