Champion Yearling Awards Ceremony!
The students received the Champion Yearling Award for their excellence in Service, Leadership, Academic Achievement, Citizenship, Sportsmanship and Character. Students chosen for Service give back to their community through a multitude of various school projects. Students chosen for Leadership possess the ability to positively influence others towards accomplishing a common goal. The Academic Excellence award is presented to students who strive for the highest levels of achievement in their classes on a consistent basis throughout the school year. The Citizenship award is given to students who exhibit and model appropriate and positive conduct towards others. Finally, the Sportsmanship/Character award is presented to students whose behavior and actions model the highest degree of integrity, humility and teamwork, inside the classroom, or on the field or court. Being chosen to receive a Champion Yearling award is a great accomplishment and we are very proud of these students.
In addition to receiving a certificate, these students received a t-shirt for their accomplishments. On these shirts are the words, “Garner Yearling Champion.” The five categories of awards are also depicted in stars, which represent the way we look upon your child receiving these awards – they are the shining stars of Garner and they symbolize and contribute to the Yearling Pride that we have.
Thank you Mrs. White, for coordinating this event; and thank you Mrs. Summey, Mrs. Valadez and Ms. Cantu for helping us present these awards! I am very proud of our students at Garner. We have a wonderful school and community. Parents, thank you for raising such outstanding children and for entrusting us to educate our students. Go Yearlings!
UIL Fall Speech and Debate Festival a Success!
In the small school division, Garner brought home the 3rd Place Sweepstakes Award! I am so proud of every student who competed at this tournament! Every one of their efforts led to this victory! It was a great team success!
Thank you to all of our parents who came out on Friday and Saturday to support their child and all of our Garner students! I especially thank our two awesome teachers, Mrs. Efron and Ms. Tindol for the work, coaching, and commitment they bring to our school and to our students every day. Let's keep leveling up our effort to prepare for our spring tournament. Go Yearlings!
