Centennial's "Newsday Tuesday"!
Centennial Elementary Families' Weekly Newsletter 2/14/2023
A note from the principal . . .
Hi, Centennial Families, and Happy Valentine's Day!
Centennial has been busy with class parties and an extra focus on kindness and love!
Speaking of LOVE, here's a helpful read for families:
The 5 Love Languages of Children
Discover how to speak your child’s love language in a way that he or she understands. Dr. Gary Chapman and Dr. Ross Campbell help you:
- Discover your child’s love language
- Assist your child in successful learning
- Use the love languages to correct and discipline more effectively
- Build a foundation of unconditional love for your child
For children, one thing that's true is that "face time" (quality time) with a parent is what is most needed. With today's families being pulled in every direction, we sometimes can feel inadequate, wishing for more time. I encourage you to try these easy, helpful strategies for finding time for what matters most with your little one(s)!
And in case no one's told you today, you are loved, and you are doing a wonderful job!
Oklahoma School Testing Program (OSTP) for Families
In April, Oklahoma students in grades 3-8 will begin taking the OSTP assessments to measure their mastery of grade-level learning standards.
- As a parent or guardian, you will find the resources at the OSTP homepage helpful so that you may understand how the tests are formatted, how the testing days are structured, and how to work with your child and teacher to ensure your student's success in achieving learning mastery. Please click here for the OSTP Family Page.
- Parent, Student and Teacher Guides provide a list of test-taking tips, objectives covered in the test, and practice tests. Parents/guardians are encouraged to discuss these materials with their child to help prepare them for the tests.
- Please Click Here to Access Parent Guides for Grades 3, 4, and 5
- Please Click Here to Access OSTP Practice Tests online!
We love you all, Buffalos, and thank you for all you do to fill our hearts every day!
Happy Valentine's Day!
With kind regards,
Ellie Webb, Principal
Centennial Music Teacher and Students Participate in "Circle the State"!
Thank you to Ms. Hinman for taking these students to "Circle the State with Song" last week!
This is a choir festival opportunity sponsored by the Oklahoma Music
Educators Association that works to build schools' vocal programs. Through our students’ participation in this program, they are more likely to become music leaders in Centennial Choir and enjoy their vocal talents on an even greater level throughout their lives!
