Senior Academic Program

Last night, 56 members of the class of 2015 were given the opportunity to recognize an SCSD2 staff member who challenged or inspired them to high achievement. Students scheduled to receive either a Technical or Academic Honors diploma spoke about their honored faculty person and presented them with a certificate. Honorees did not find out who selected them until last night. It was a wonderful evening of heartfelt speeches and fellowship. Congratulations to the students and the faculty they honored.

Academic Teams Triumph Again

The Academic Teams participated in another invitational at Corydon Central High School on Monday, March 16, and once again came out on top in several subjects. The English, Social Studies, Science and Interdisciplinary teams each placed first in their class. The school placed second overall of 14 teams. The next competition will be the state qualification contest at Austin on April 21. We are hoping to send at least one team to state, making it our 4th year in a row to make it to that level.

Prosser Wall of Fame

Congratulations to junior Dasha Deaton for being selected to the Prosser Wall of Fame for this period. Of 86 students in the Criminal Justice program at the education center, only 2 were selected to be honored in this round. Dasha's response to the award, "It was awesome to be chosen!" We are very proud of you, Dasha. Keep up the good work.

FFA Breakfast

This past Saturday March 14th, the Scottsburg FFA held its annual AG Day Breakfast at Scottsburg High School. Since the start of this event in the 80s, this breakfast has grown into a huge community AG event for the public. With the help of the Scott County Farm Bureau, they served an astounding total of 1488 people! The FFA sold tickets for 50 cents each, representing the farmer’s share of each meal and the overall relatively cheap price of quality food in the US. The meal included eggs, biscuits and gravy, and sausage with either orange juice, milk, or coffee. Along with that, many door prizes were given away at the Spinning Wheel, along with a silent auction that benefited the FFA Greenhouse project. The Farm Bureau also gave away a basket of free groceries, and WMPI Radio aired the entire event! It turned out fantastic, and the FFA wants to thank all of those who attended the breakfast, as well as the school and community for their continued help and support.

Parent Teacher Conferences & Business/College Fair

We had a small but dedicated group of families at Tuesday's Parent Teacher Conferences and Opportunity Fair. Attendees enjoyed meeting with teachers, learning about area college/career options, and eating the spaghetti dinner prepared by our SHS cafeteria staff. We appreciate the following businesses and colleges for participating in our event and look forward to working with them again: Multi-Color, American Plastics, Tokusen, Sullivan, Ivy Tech Sellersburg, Ivy Tech Seymour, Franklin College, IU Southeast, Marion University, and the Scott County Community Foundation.

Spring Choir Concert

The choir concert on Tuesday night went extremely well! The middle school and the high school had a combined concert. Each group gave an amazing performance. The middle school students were very impressed with the traditional high school choir and "The Harmonics" show choir. We had a wonderful crowd of about 300 parents!! It was a wonderful performance. Our next performance will be May 28th.
