Regrowing Vegetables from Scraps
Observing how some vegetables magically regrow from scraps is a fascinating plant science project that we did this week in class. We are watching a few items regrow in our classroom. We are always checking the water level and recording the changes.
LET'S HEAL THE WORLD
With Ms. Catherine's help we draw on band-aids how we'll do our part to heal the world. During this week we celebrated the Earth Day but we learned that we can do a lot of things to celebrate our Planet earth every day.
MELTED CRAYON ART - PART II
Last week in our newsletter we showed you how we pasted the recycled crayons on a "canvas" that we made with cardboard pieces. This week we worked on the second part of this project. Ms. Ginni showed us how to use the hair dryer to melt the crayon pieces. We did this part with Ms. Javi's help and supervision.
This Melted crayon art will be also part of our ART SHOW!!!

This week we celebrated in class Martina's 4th Birthday!
Martina's family came to share a yummy cake with us. To celebrate her birthday, Martina gave us very nice party favors: bracelets for the girls and hot wheel cars for the boys.

THE WORLD IN OUR HANDS!
What better way to get us excited about Earth day than with a great Earth Day Play Dough recipe?
This was a fun way forus to explore what the world looks like, where we live in relation to the rest of the world, and just have a fun sensory and hands-on learning.

MAKING IN RECYCLED PAPER
Shredding paper is one of my Ms. Ginni's favorite things to do, so this time she decided to recycle our shredded paper at school instead of sending it off to the recycling center. It turned out to be a fantastic lesson in reduce, reuse, recycle…perfect for Earth Day!
- First, we got the shredding machine from the elementary school office and we learned how to use it with supervision.
Then, we filled our blender with the shredded paper and we added enough water to cover it all. We knew that we wanted our finished paper to be blueish, so we added a few sheets of shredded old artwork (on construction paper) to the mix.
We blended the paper shreddings and water into a fine pulp.
We added food coloring to get different colors!
We added seeds to the pulp!
EARTH DAY OUTDOOR CELEBRATION
We took our Earth day celebration outdoors on a bright and sunny day and played some games that our teachers prepared using recyclable materials. We had a lot of fun re-using some items that we recycled from home.
