New Scituate Alumni Association Board!
Hello Alumni!
It's been a while since we've connected, but we're excited to rekindle the spirit of our alumni community! A small group of us has been brainstorming ways to make our bond even stronger and create opportunities for everyone.
We've identified an incredible chance for our alumni to not only reconnect with each other but also to make a positive impact on current students. We're reaching out to you because we believe in the power of our network.
How can you help?
We're building a database of our talented alums, and we'd love to hear from you! Please take a moment to click on the following link https://forms.gle/7HLB4PLBbkJuyrwC7 and fill out a simple form. We're collecting basic information so that, in the future, if a student expresses interest in a particular field, we can connect them with an alum who's excelling in that area.
Why does it matter?
Imagine the impact we can have on the next generation! Your experiences and insights could be the guiding light for a student exploring their passions and career options.
https://forms.gle/7HLB4PLBbkJuyrwC7
Let's make a difference together! Please also invite any alums who might not be part of this group, and stay tuned for more updates from us. This is just the beginning of something incredible!
Thank you for your support! and don’t forget to invite all your fellow alumni to this group!
Warm regards,
Elena Grigelevich

Keep up the amazing work and continue to be outstanding Scituate Spartans in and out of the classroom!
Please Help Spread the Word
Calling all SMS 8th Graders and any students from RI interested in coming to SHS next year!!
From Science
Mr. Catucci's physics students just wrapped up their Egg Drop/Smash projects. The project was a great way to apply kinematic equations to a hands-on project. This project was meant to simulate a car accident in which a car collided with an obstacle in the front and then was rear-ended.
The same concepts used to protect a driver can be applied to protect an egg. In this way, students can see how forces, accelerations and impulses determine if a car is safe.
As part of the project, students could make a Youtube video for extra credit.
Academy of Biomedical Science and HOSA
Hi, We are three seniors attending Scituate High School, looking to fundraise for Stroke victims. We have chosen the Stroke Support Association to empower stroke survivors and their families with resources to recover, reclaim, and rebuild their lives. We have competed in Medical Innovations for the past two years designing a prototype to help stroke victims regain their hand function, now we have ventured on to Community Awareness, spreading information and awareness to and about stroke victims so their stories can be heard. Please help us in providing these victims with a little extra help! Every dollar counts! You can donate through the link attached. If you are unable to donate, please help us share the message.
Academy of Entrepreneurship

The Linus Blanket Project

From Social Studies
Students in US History II Honors were the first students in the state of Rhode Island to have the opportunity to go on a field trip to the Armenian Cultural Center of Rhode Island, the Armenian Martyrs Monument in Providence, and Sonia‘s Near East Market and Deli in Cranston. All student expenses were covered by the Armenian Cultural Society. Students were given a special tour of the museum, and the monument, by Pauline Getzoyan, granddaughter of Armenian genocide survivors, and editor of the Armenian weekly newspaper. She explained artifacts, her grandmother's story, and Armenian recipes behind the delicious food they ate. The students had many questions for Pauline about the Amrenian Genocide, Armenian culture, and the current conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Pauline was thoroughly impressed by the knowledge, curiosity, and empathy of the students. They all were extremely mature, caring, and asked very high-level and poignant questions. These students made Scituate High School proud! In fact, they were so impressive that Pauline Getzoyan is now looking into doing more of these types of field trips for students in the future.
Modern World History
Students in Modern World History classes recently completed a unit comparing the Crusades to the modern conflict over Israel. Students reviewed multiple forms of media identifying bias and perspective. Students began to formulate their own opinions regarding the conflict in Israel through an in-class debate. As a culminating event, students acted as journalists, interviewing Elihay Skital from Ashkelon, Israel. (This is 5 miles from Gaza.) Students engaged in workplace learning by acting as journalists to prepare culturally sensitive, yet thought provoking, questions to pose to Elihay. This conversation will be followed up with an interview with a Palestinian from the West Bank next week.
