April 2015 Parent Newsletter
When we return from spring break, we will have exactly 9 weeks of school left before summer vacation. The year has absolutely flown by! Take a moment to reflect on the growth your child has made both emotionally and academically. Tell them how proud you are of their accomplishments. Before we know it, we will begin planning for next year. I hope everyone has a great month!
Report cards will be sent home with students on April 10th.
PTO Cookie Dough Fundraiser
The last fundraiser of the year was sent home with students before spring break. Cookie dough order forms are due by April 10th. Thank you for your support.

This year's drama club is performing "Fifteen Reasons not to be in a Play." It is a play about not being in a play, ironically expressed through a hilarious series of monologues, duets, and ensemble scenes. From early traumas involving a glory-seeking elementary school teacher to possible disturbances in the global climate, "Fifteen Reasons not to be in a Play" will keep you guessing and entertained.
Tickets will be sold at the door for $5.00 for adults and $2.00 for students.
The last conference night of the year will be held on April 30th from 3:00-6:30. Parents may call the office to schedule a conference or fill out the conference request form when it comes home with their child.
Box Tops Collection
Our PTO organization will be collecting Box Tops until May 21st. This will be the last collection of the year. Please send them in with your child.

PARCC End of Year Testing
Students will be taking the end of year PARCC assessments April 27-May 8th. We have made some changes and hope to minimize the disruption to the educational process. I will send home a testing schedule with students, email parents, and post it on the website.
Real Money Real World
The 8th grade students will be participating in a program called Real Money Real World on Friday, May 29th. Students spend time in math class learning about occupations, income, deductions, checking and savings account, etc. Students are then given a career and monthly salary. On May 29th, students will visit 14 different stations to purchase all items necessary to survive for one month -- house payment, car payment, insurance, groceries, daycare, electric bill, cable, etc. Parent volunteers are needed to help work the stations on May 29th. If you would be willing to help us with this learning opportunity for our students, please contact Mrs. Carmack at the junior high no later than May 1st.
