First say to yourself what you would be; and then do what you have to do. ~ Epictetus
I am a little off schedule this week; however, I want to get some of this information out to you before the end of the week.
Call for action - do we want to continue with our annual concert? If so, do we have a team to organize and make it happen? Please let me know ASAP.
Did you notice our Committee Calendar on Outlook? Thanks to Angie, we now all have access and the ability to add our committee events in one location.
We will be kicking off our six week yoga class with Marcia McGee this Thursday. If you haven't given yoga a try yet, this would be the perfect opportunity. Marcia will gently guide you through the process and you will appreciate the difference this makes in your flexibility and well being. It is also one of the best stress reducers I can think of!
I will be attending conferences in Lansing on Thursday and Friday, so if you need to contact me either of those days please email or have Angie call me. Much to my relief, I no longer carry a separate work cell phone; if there is an emergency please use my 313-410-7890 number.
Our Certificated Staff meeting this week will focus on the initial IEP process as agreed by our Win Win committee work. Even if you don't participate in our initial eval process, there is much in this work that pertains to all IEP procedures. As we move forward in our work it is necessary that all participants support each other in our effort to provide excellent service to our parents and their local school districts.
The iPad cart is coming! This is exciting news and I look forward to what we can do with this to engage our students. I will be asking for your input as we develop a schedule to get this into our classrooms in the most effective way. Did you know that this comes with it's own Mac laptop and a supply of iTunes cards?
Coming up soon, we will have some discussion about how to report student growth as a part of our annual educator evaluation. We will incorporate IEP goals and Teaching Strategy Gold data into this as well as other sources. Be thinking about how to best indicate your students' progress.
Please help our team by making sure the custodian's door is closed during student contact time. It has been propped open a couple of times recently (when Bill wasn't here) - so if you see it open, please close it. Thanks.
