Grizzly Families -
Course registration for the 2023-2024 school year is open!
Students, as you register, be sure to refer to the Academic Planning Guide on our website. Should you have any questions about your academic plan or graduation requirements, don't hesitate to reach out to your counselor. They are eager to help!
Course registration closes on Friday, February 3rd at 3:30p.m.
We were so excited to greet our incoming Class of 2027 from Ranch View on Wednesday, but since Mother Nature had other plans, we have rescheduled our 8th Grade Registration and Parent Information Night for next Thursday, January 26th. The students will still come over during their school day and walk through the registration process with our counselors, and our parent information session will be at 5:30p.m. in our Auditorium. We always love to see new faces coming though our doors!
Stay warm this weekend,

TRHS Theatre Proudly Presents: SPY SCHOOL
It's 1961, an ordinary teenager Jane Doe is drafted by the CIA to become a super-secret secret agent. Her mission? Infiltrate an anonymous American high school to locate a Russian spy about to send classified space program information to the USSR. But it's not easy being undercover, especially when your spy family consists of a femme fatale "mom," a 40-year-old "younger brother," and the most dashingly narcissistic "dad" ever. Add that to obnoxious fellow students, a blatantly sexist curriculum, and the horror that is prom, and you've got a mission that might be impossible.
Spy School is a fun show for the whole family!
Jan. 19, 20, and 21 at 7:00p.m.

Adults: $10 // Students: $8

Grizzly Gives Week Sponsors Needed!
Grizzly Gives Week will be held February 27 - March 3. This very special week, put on by our Student Government in conjunction with the Caruso Family Charity, supports local families with children in need. Last year, we raised over $50,000 to purchase two lightly used cars for the two families we worked with! This accomplishment would not have been possible without our sponsors.
We would like to invite your business or organization to be a sponsor for this year's Grizzly Gives Week! For a contribution of $250, your company’s logo will appear on the back of the Grizzly Gives t-shirt that is sold to the student body and staff. This is a great opportunity for your company to get their name out there, but more importantly, to help families in our community in need.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Thomas Sullivan at thomas.sullivan@dcsdk12.org no later than January 20th. We are super excited for Grizzly Gives this year and hope that you will be a part of it!
Battle of the Books Donations Needed!
The 7th annual DCSD High School Battle of the Books is happening on February 4, and the District Librarian Teachers need your help!
They are seeking monetary or gift card donations that will go toward food and prizes at this wonderful event. Any donation is greatly appreciated and can be dropped off at the secuity kiosk, attention Stephanie Sjoland.
Donors' names will be displayed and announced at the event and on the event website.
Thank you for your consideration!
Senior Board Volunteers Needed
Calling All ThunderRidge Parents!
Here is your chance to see our students at their very best!
Become a Senior Project Judge and celebrate our seniors' learning and accomplishments. This cumulative activity showcases our students’ reading, writing, and speaking skills as well as emphasizes many important “soft skills” such as time management, problem solving, and work ethic. In order for these projects to be successful we are asking for parental and community help with Senior Boards. The Senior Boards listen to and evaluate students presenting their Senior Project.
Underclassmen parents, this is a great opportunity for you to see and understand what your children will be doing their senior year. Senior parents, what better way to support your senior by serving on a board that celebrates their final high school project?
Senior Boards will take place on Friday, April 7th from 9:30 am - 3:00 pm. If you would like to participate on the Senior Boards please click on this link and complete the questionnaire. If you have any further questions, please contact Denise Orsini at Denise.Orsini@dcsdk12.org.

IB Update
Currently in the IB world, we are entering week two of the new Theory of Knowledge cohort! Theory of Knowledge is a Philosophy that challenges students to ask "how do they know what they know"? Unlike so many other classes, TOK is focused on having students look at the world around them and challenge the perceptions they have about that world. What knowledge do they have, how did they get it, to what extent is it true, and how do they know that it is something worth knowing?
While this class has always been a required class for our full International Baccalaureate Diploma students, this year we are trying something new. We are trying to bring more students into the fold and expose more young minds to the big Philosophical questions in the world. It is an exciting opportunity for any and all students at ThunderRidge to take a larger look at the world around them and help them to formulate who they want to be as they leave High School. Mr. Singleton and Mr. Risner are thrilled to be offering these opportunities to their students and hope to see more students give TOK a try in the years to come.
