Austinville Student Council Participates in Elementary Student Leadership Training Day
All thirteen Austinville Student Council members participated in the Leadership Training Day last week. Students attended small group activities. They also met with Dr. Nichols and the superintendents of Morgan County and Hartselle City Schools to learn more about the positive and negative uses of social media. These adult leaders also discussed ways to prevent bullying in the schools. Student Council members met with the ROTC from Decatur High to learn about flag etiquette. Ambassadors from area high schools spoke about volunteering opportunities at the high school level. One hundred sixty-five leaders from schools in Decatur, Morgan County, Hartselle, and even Muscle Shoals participated in the Leadership Day.

Area Churches Going the Extra Mile in Support of Austinville
For several years, Austinville has been fortunate to have the support of the community's churches. What an excellent role model these members are for the students and a wonderful example of the 7 Habits at work. Austinville plans to highlight all of the community churches and businesses that contribute to the school during the year. As they say, "It takes a village."
This week we are spotlighting Flint Church of Christ, Decatur Baptist Church, and Central United Methodist Church.
