Bulldog Bulletin
New Britton Elementary - October 21, 2016
Principal's Message
Dear Bulldog Families,
New Britton has been a very BUSY place lately, but busy is great when it comes to deep thinking and learning! We have wrapped up many "firsts" as the first grading period came to a close: first writing pieces, first projects, first experiments, first student learning presentations...We would like to thank all of our families for attending our Parent-Teacher conferences to learn about these firsts and other information about your student.
As you know, New Britton was a stopping point on the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay. We had a great showing of families and neighbors who attended the NBE hand-off. Santiago Jaramillo, BlueBridge Digital (Fishers business owner), carried the torch from New Britton to the Fishers Library, where Riverside Intermediate student Grace Wechsler carried the torch to Fishers City Hall. Our own 4th graders Sloan Ferguson and Katie Comstock spoke at the Party at City Hall. Thank you to everyone who participated in the festivities.
We are wrapping up our Scholastic Book Fair tonight. Thank you for purchasing books to support our school library! We would like to give a special thank you to the many volunteers who helped with this fundraiser.
Have a safe and happy fall break. We look forward to a great 2nd 9 weeks. As always, thank you for partnering with us in education.
Sincerely,
Lori Mankin

Early Childhood Program
Applications for peers into our Early Childhood classrooms are being accepted now. Early Childhood in HSE creates an environment that affords all children the opportunity to develop friendships while becoming leaders and role models. Throughout the educational experience, children will learn about acceptance and diversity. Children enrolled in the four half day (M-TH) Early Childhood classrooms will experience a student centered preschool curriculum enriched with social skills and language skills along with academic activities. The skills and activities are linked to the Indiana State Standards for preschool which are precursor skills designed to promote kindergarten readiness. Children must be at least 3 years old and not kindergarten eligible. For information regarding how to enroll your child in this enriching learning opportunity, please stop by Brooks School Elementary for an application. If you have any questions about the peer group program, please contact the early childhood secretary, Beth Kiel, at 915-4250 or send an email to mailto:earlychildhoodcontact@hse.k12.in.us
