Teacher Appreciation Week
May 2, 2016
Teacher Appreciation Week is here, and with that a week long of teacher appreciation from every student, staff, and community member. The hardest career to choose is to be a teacher, because being a teacher is also choosing to be a Mother, Father, Grandmother, Tia, Friend, Counselor, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, and sometimes we have to be the Bad Guys. Yet it is one of the most rewarding careers!!! Your students will always remember you, they will thank you when they make it. They will remember the roles you played in their education and they will honor you when their greatest moment comes.
I have been teaching since 2005 and my first encounter with teacher appreciation week was in 2008 when I was at Robert E. Lee. I remember walking in to school and the Principal, Ms. Zapata, was making pancakes for us, and I was like "What is going on here?" "Well its teacher appreciation week and we are serving you." It was the best day ever! But yet so sad because I went teaching for 3 years before ever being appreciated by the campus.
But that will not happen here at Herbert Marcus!!! We will celebrate, appreciate, be silly, have fun, (and still teach :) while enjoying a WEEK long of teacher appreciations.
Please join in on all the weekly events to make this year a memorable one at HMES.
