Coding Resources
Last December, 100% of our children participated in Hour of Code! Collectively, they coded for a total of 34,140 minutes! Many students expressed that they wanted to learn more about coding and planned to try some programming activities at home. During our successful Hour of Code event, we used the sites code.org and tynker.com.
Keyboarding Resources
Dance Mat Typing is a free typing resource from BBC. It is aimed at students ages 4-8 and provides clear typing instruction organized into 4 levels. Within each level there are multiple lessons and practice activities, starting with how to properly place hands on the keyboard. Each lesson and activity offers instant feedback.
If you are in need of more keyboarding resources, please let me know. There is a lot out there!
Chromebook Collection Process
All student Chromebooks will be collected and stored for the summer, then redistributed for the 2015-16 school year. Devices and accessories must be permanently returned to school, no later than Monday, June 8, to allow for inspection and paperwork to be completed before students leave for summer break. Please use this checklist as students begin to return their Chromebooks and accessories.
Pat and/or I will be coming to your classrooms on Wednesday, June 10 to begin the storage process. 3-5 teachers, please sign up for a 30 minute time slot when we can come in and collect your students’ Chromebooks, power cords, and cases.
Please contact us with any questions you may have!
Chromebook and iPad Surveys
K-5 Classroom Teachers,
When you have a few minutes, please complete one of the following surveys to give feedback about your classroom experiences with Chromebooks or iPads this year. Your thoughts and opinions are greatly appreciated, as we continue to support and refine the technology programs in District 64.
iPad (K-2 classroom teachers)
Chromebook (3-5 classroom teachers)
Please submit your feedback by next Friday, June 5. Thanks!

All D64 3rd-5th grade students will complete the survey on Monday, June 1. The survey will take about 20-25 minutes. You will be able to administer it any time that day. Steps on how to access the survey will be sent out at a later date.
Teachers will complete the survey at the beginning of the June 3 building meeting. Please bring your laptops!
If you have any questions, please ask. If you know that you will be out of the building on June 1, when students take the survey, please contact me so I can help facilitate.
