All of the news from Woodcrest Elementary!
Principal's Message
Welcome to our October edition of the Monthly Wildcat! I am excited to share all the latest news and updates from Woodcrest Elementary.
In order to keep students safe, morning temperature checks are done without physical contact. If a student has an elevated temperature, they will be given water and a few minutes to cool down and have their temperature rechecked. If the temperature remains elevated, you will be called to pick up your child. Please make sure to not send your student to school if they are sick. For more information on FSD’s safety protocols, please refer to the Fullerton School District website at https://www.fullertonsd.org/apps/pages/Covid19SafetyProtocols.
Make up Picture day is October 12 . If you missed picture day last month, this is your opportunity to get your student's picture taken If you have any questions, please call the office.
Saturday school is on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Saturday school is for students who have an absence that need to make it up. Saturday school starts at 8 and goes until 12:15. The class is taught by our very own teachers. It is a fun day of learning for kids and helps students improve their attendance. Students who qualify to attend will receive a notice a few days before. Attendance matters!
September 15th through October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month. This month is to promote the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic Americans. All month long we will be highlighting notable Hispanic Americans in our classrooms and morning announcements. As a Hispanic- American this month is very dear to me and I look forward to our students learning more!
October 25th-29th is Red Ribbon Week. This is the week where our students participate in activities to show their commitment to be Drug Free. This year's theme is "Drug Free Looks Like Me". More information to come on our spirit days to come!
October 29th our students will participate in our Annual Costume Parade. Students are allowed to wear costumes to school, as long as they are not gory, scary or inappropriate. Our parade will be in the morning. Due to COVID, we are not allowing visitors on campus. However, we will live stream the parade so families can enjoy from home, work, anywhere! More details will be sent closer to the event.
October 29th we will also be having a Trunk or Treat in our parking lot after school. More information to come on that in the coming weeks.

We will continue to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with read-alouds, art, music, and dance. “If you have a dream, don’t let anyone take it away. And always believe that the impossible is always possible.”-Selena

Let’s welcome the OUTSTANDING month of OCTOBER! This month, students will be learning about the important figures, movements, and outcomes that surround Hispanic Heritage month for our social justice studies. Additionally, both Kinder and 1st graders will be learning and investigating all about plant life for our science unit. Students will also be practicing the routines and procedures of innovative writers in writers workshop.
