Boosterthon is our main fundraiser for the year and all money raised will be used to fund the annual PTO budget. It is through this budget that our wonderful PTO is able to give back over $30,000 to BES annually through supports such as teacher allotments for classroom supplies and extras, student incentives, staff thank-yous, and professional development - just to name a few! Our PTO also funded the wonderful outdoor games on the bus loop that were added last year.
Boosterthon, however, is far more than a fundraiser. While they do help us meet the needs of our school financially, they also provide valuable character lessons of respect, good behavior, and good citizenship while also incorporating physical fitness and healthy choices. This is one of the primary reasons we have selected Boosterthon over other fundraising means.
The culminating Boosterthon Fun Run has established itself as one of the highlights of the school year, enjoyed by students, faculty and parents. Every child, whether they raise money or not, receives a Boosterthon t-shirt and has the opportunity to participate in the Fun Run, so everyone is included in the fun!
Please keep a look out for more information. The kick off for Boosterthon will be September 22. We appreciate your support and all you do for BES!

Trex Recycling
We are collecting plastic bags and plastic film, which the company Trex turns in to sustainable building materials for homes. The reason we are focusing on plastic bags and film, is because these materials are incredibly light and when they end up in a landfill, they tend to blow away and end up in our bodies of water. Also, unfortunately, most recycling plants are unable to recycle these items, as they tend to get stuck in the machines and break them. As you can see, this is quite a challenge for our community and our environment to overcome, which is why we need your continued help sending these materials to a company who can help us solve this ongoing problem!
At the end of each month, we collect all of the plastic from the collection bins around school, weigh the bags, and add up the amounts to find our total data. We invite you to please keep your eyes out for all CLEAN plastic bags and film that you can collect and bring to school! Simply drop them in the box right by the front office door, or have your child bring them to his or her classroom - we can take it from there! We will be collecting the plastic film and plastic bags up until the last day of school.
Thank you for your participation and support!
Do you think your child's teacher is pretty amazing?
Special Snacks
D5 School Board policy ADF “School Wellness” stipulates that during the instructional day, any food that is brought to a school from home with the purpose of sharing among students be store bought, packaged and have ingredients clearly listed on the packaging. Some ingredients in homemade foods not only pose risks to students with allergies and other health concerns, but also increase opportunities for food contamination. This policy will allow our District to avoid the potential of significant harm to our students.
Foods must be in compliance with the Institute of Medicine (IOM) recommended nutrition standards for foods in schools.
< 200 calories
< 35% of total calories from fat
< 10% of calories from saturated fats
Zero trans fat (< 0.5 g per serving)
< 35% of calories from total sugars
< 200 mg sodium
All snacks brought to the school to be shared with the class must be approved well in advance to help avoid disappointment on the day of the special event. An easy option for families to consider is ordering items through our cafeteria. Use THIS FORM to place an order. A minimum of one week’s notice is required.

Forgot a snack? Need a snack?
Depending on when your child’s lunch is, the morning or afternoon stretch can be long!
No worries - we have your child covered! S/He just needs to let their teacher know and one will be provided. Available snacks will vary, so if your child is a selective eater, has dietary needs, or parents prefer to select their child’s snack, bringing one from home may be the preferred option for your family.
