Wrapping Up a Season of Highs & Lows
It was quite the season for the boys this year! Kudos to the Top 6 for their efforts at Districts. Jackson Dunn and Andriy Palchak finished with the Bronze in Doubles after a rough match vs FHC. They had to play for 3rd following the loss and I was proud of them for not giving up when things didn't go their way.
The Varsity program finished the regular season 11-3 with an overall individual match of 85-41. The JV finished undefeated with an overall individual match score of 80-30. The season got off to a rough start with the crazy cold weather making it difficult to get into a groove. Once the weather eased up and we got rolling, we had some good days and some bad days. The skill was there, but the lack of consistency really hurt us in the long run. Regardless of everything not turning out as perfectly as we wanted, it was a season of improvement considering how hard these boys had to work over the off season to get to where they are. We lost a lot of depth last year and the boys knew they had to get to work. We have a very similar situation this year so tennis really doesn't stop now that regular season is over...the time to work on your skills starts now for the returners! So be sure to sign up for our summer tennis camp using the link below! This is a great opportunity to get some work in with their teammates, have some fun, and interact and learn from the great coaching staff at Vetta West!
Reminder that the end of season celebration is set for Tuesday May 29th at Demolition Ball from 11-130pm. The first 1hr I will give out awards, certificates, and show our season recap video. Pizza, drinks, and cakes will also be served. The rest of time is for play and anyone is welcome to join including parents and the rest of the family. It will be $10 a person! Below is a link to RSVP so I can get accurate numbers for the celebration! I wanted the RSVPs filled out by this past Friday, but I have only seen 11 RSVPs. Please take care of this by Wednesday 5/16. Thank you!

All returning players are expected to sign up for tennis camp! It is a great opportunity to spend some time with teammates over the summer, work on our footwork and ground strokes, spend some time with Vetta instructors, and we also have a doubles tournament on the last day.
I also appreciate the guys staying for the 2nd-8th grade camp and help run the camp. This is a great opportunity to give back and spread the love of tennis to the future of Viking Tennis.
