Can you believe it is the last month of school?? Where did the time go? Thank you for helping this year be the best that it could be.


Fourth Quarter:

We are in the last quarter of the year. The last day of school will be Tuesday, May 30 with a 2:30 dismissal. FAST reading assessments and math iReady assessments will be given starting Monday, May 15. End of the quarter assessments will be given now through the end of the school year. Report cards will go home with students on the last day of school.


ISASP

Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress (ISASP) were completed April 17-21. Thank you for all you did to support your student with this at home. Results will be in by the end of the year and over the summer. Parent reports will go home in the fall. Please let me know if you have any questions about this.


End of the Year Fun:

We have some fun activities planned for our students for the end of the year. This Friday, May 5, is our school-wide Luau. Students are encouraged to wear Hawaiian gear. Friday, May 12 is our Field Day. Third, fourth and fifth grade students will enjoy fun from 9am-11am and our Kindergarten, first and second grade students will join the games from 1pm-3pm. On Tuesday, May 30, we will have our Staff vs. Fifth Grade Kickball game. The staff is undefeated so far!


Medication Pick-up:

If your student has any medications at the school, please be sure to pick those up before the end of the school year in the office.

Free Summer Meals Program for Children

The Sioux City Community School District is once again participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals are available Monday through Friday for all children ages 1-18 years without charge. Please visit the District’s website for more information including serving sites and schedules.

Outstanding School Fees? Pay Them Easily

Do you have school fees that need to be paid? Visit the Sioux City Community School District website and click on the “Parents” tab. On the Parents page, you will see a button for “Pay Fees” which will take you to MySchoolBucks where you can pay your student’s school fees online.

Hy-Vee Bucks

We are collecting Hy-Vee receipts to help earn money so that we can buy new books for the library, new equipment for recess and many other things. Last year we earned $156. We earn $1 for every $100 spent. Please remember that your receipts must be from a Sioux City or South Sioux City Hy-Vee location. Receipts can be turned into the office. Thank you for your support.

Box Tops, Pop-tabs, and Hy-Vee Receipts

Riverside Elementary is collecting Box Tops in which you can scan right from home. We also accept Hy-Vee Receipts. We collect pop-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. We have a place to collect all of these items in the office.Thank you!

Attention Parents: End of Year Information on Medication

Student medication and/or medical supplies will be sent home with your child on the last day of school. If you would like to make other arrangements, please contact the school office before the last day of school. Any unused medication that remains at school will be disposed of in compliance with federal and state laws or will be given to the School Resource Officers for proper disposal.
