Eastside: The Greatest School
"No one ever made a difference by being like everyone else."
Eastside Mission & Vision
Working in partnership with the community, Eastside Elementary will provide all students:
A collaborative team of professionals who are committed to improve their practices, so that all students learn at high levels
A safe, positive, and inviting learning environment
An engaging and challenging curriculum focused on essential academics and life skills
Individualized and timely support that provides students with what they need to succeed
The Eastside Tradition Continues with our Human Flag picture (Special thanks to Ms. Gordon, Ms. Havens, and Graham Electric)
Eastside's Ringleader and Big Top Team of the Week
Our Big Top Team of the week goes to the Support Staff. The support staff has had a very different schedule the first month of school and they have handled it all in stride. Mrs. Manning and I are so thankful for the support staff being so flexible to help all our unique students!
Instructional Shout Out
Inspiration for the Week
How's our data notebooks looking? With student led conferences approaching, this will be a great tool for students to show their parents. More than just putting data in the binder, we need to be sure that our students can process it. They should know current reality of where they are, what the proficiency level is they are reaching for, and what they will do to get there! Self efficacy is POWERFUL!
Details for the Week
- Mrs. Bailey and Tina Smith from ADE will be with us Monday for team meetings. This will be content meetings with 3-5. This is the first time we have tried to run that schedule on a different day that Wednesday, so please be patient. Agendas are on your Google team drive.
- Jacksonville principals will be stopping by Monday to see our data wall!
- Greenbrier Chamber of Commerce will be visiting Eastside on Thursday at 9:00 AM.
- Reminder of the Instructional Challenge of the Week: Use one of the websites I sent out to allow students to answer a poll. This will allow you to give immediate feedback and students will love the incorporation of technology. I am so proud of all that have accepted the challenges of bringing music into the classroom and reading the Growth Mindset books. (Make sure you send Mrs. Manning pictures of you completing the challenge with your students. You could appoint one of the kids that cannot being photographed to take the photo for you.)
- At this point in the year, our hallways need to be a working museum of the learning that is occurring in our classrooms. Please keep updated work displayed in hallways.
- Progress Monitoring and Documentation: MAP progress monitoring (grades 2 and 3), Dibels PM K-2. We will pause on documentation on the SIT docs this week. This will give the SIT team a week to catch up on getting all documents in order. Keep any documentation that you will want to enter on a sheet of your own.
- Please sign up for a time to work Fall Festival. I sent the spreadsheet out last week.
- STEAM Lab will be opening in October. Make plans to have your class in there. Remember the calendar Mrs. Barnhart shared with you to sign up.
- Movie Night on October 5th at 6:30 with Ferdinand. Please include on your parent newsletter!
- Please read the newsletter each week and use it throughout the week. We had some difficulties and confusion last week that were unneeded. All the confusion could have been avoided had the newsletter been read. If we continue to have problems with this, we will need to start having staff meetings after school or during recess times throughout the week. I value you your time, but we must stay connected on deadlines, times, and communication.

REMINDERS
- Mrs. Barnhart will be sending out the news each week. Make sure you are watching it in the morning while you take attendance, lunch count, and students color in their attendance. (5th grade block teachers will show the news to 5th grade.)
- Please support our Nutrition program by joining in and getting a tray on Sept. 26th, National Pancake Day. Add this date to your newsletter and tell your kiddos all about it.
- Celebrate Freedom Week during the last full week of classes in September (September 24– September 28), pursuant to Act 682 of 2003, Please make appropriate lessons for this week. The link will provide resources and ideas for you. http://adecm.arkansas.gov/Attachments/Constitution_Day_and_Celebrate_Freedom_Week_Resources_2018.pdf
- Car rider spreadsheet: Be sure to pull up the spreadsheet before 3:10. You will dismiss the early car riders on the spreadsheet at 3:10. If you are working a paw or calling, you also need to be in the lobby by 3:10. The rest of the car riders will be dismissed at 3:15. We have to do this efficiently due to the increase in car riders this year. It is doubled from last year. If we are not efficient, the car rider line goes all the way down Wilson Farm Road and the buses can't get to our school.
