Dear Nixon Families,
Just a quick note to everyone this week. The Book Fairies are at work! Students can expect to receive a bag of books (along with other school supplies at some grade levels) sometime this week end. The bags will be delivered by one of our volunteer Nixon Book Fairies. We are delighted and very appreciative to have nearly 50 parents who have volunteered to help with this effort. I also want to thank our wonderful teachers and an amazing team of classroom aides who have bagged and labeled and boxed and delivered those boxes throughout our community! These classroom aides include Liz Fendorf, Carla Gratta, Kevin Johnson, Rachel Wheeler, Terese Grimmer, Lois Hancock, Kim Kuelker, Masharika Wiggins and Vivian Woo. (All aides are funded through PiE!) Karen Hoopes, co-founder of RISE, is also helping with delivery of bags of books. Our Nixon custodian, Hugo Calasin, drove me all over Los Altos Hills in his truck to deliver boxes. Can't forget that the coordination of this has required spreadsheets galore - and thanks go to our school secretary, Becky Brewer, for these! There has been outstanding teamwork across the entire school community!
Parents, you could help the Book Fairies by writing your child’s last name on a piece of paper and attaching this to your front door or your mailbox if you have along driveway. It can be a challenge sometimes to find house numbers, etc. ;-)
Take care all and happy reading to the children!
Mary Pat
