Mark's Monday Morning Memo
January 9, 2017
Look What I Learned!
Do you recognize the background of this first MMMM of 2017? It's a photo I took in front of Gatewood after our first snowfall. After using Smore for a year and a half, I just realized and learned you can create your own background! I also just learned how to change colors and fonts so watch out!
Thank You!
Thank you to our social committee, our host Kay McCarthy, and Mr. Ike for providing the wagon, for a wonderful, fun, bonding staff holiday social. There was caroling, chicken viewing, and a snowball fight! I love those kind of parties!
Student Behavior Working Group
This state legislature created working group that I am co-chairing is working hard to finish our work and create a report for the state legislature by their February 1, 2017, deadline. There are three January meetings that I will be attending from 1:30-4:00; January 12, 18, and 24, 2017. It's going to be a busy month for me but the end is in sight!
Upcoming Data Meetings
Classroom teachers, please pay attention to last Friday's message from Melissa about accessing and watching her screencast about what to do in preparation for next week's data meetings. If you have any questions, please let Melissa know. Thank you!
December Citizens of the Month
It's time to identify the December Citizens of the Month. The celebration to honor these students is Thursday, January 19, 2017, at 3:30. Teachers, please send me the name and description for your December Citizen of the Month by the end of the day Wednesday, January 11, 2017, so I can work to send invitations, take photos, change the display, and print certificates. Thank you!
First All-School Assembly
Our first all-school assembly is this Friday, January 13, 2017. The West Junior High School Jazz Band will perform from 9:45-10:15. Unfortunately, I will be out that morning but Chantele has agreed to welcome and introduce the performance. I'm asking teachers to please review expectations with your students, listen for announcements for your time to come to the gym, and know where your class should be seated. I'm sorry to miss this first opportunity to see our entire Gatewood student body in one place and look forward to the next opportunity.
