All School Meeting Agenda

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the All School Meeting tomorrow night, Monday, March 7, at 6:00 in person at TNS. The meeting will be facilitated by Christine Knowles and Scott Hamann.

  • Ice Breaker: A brief community-building activity to welcome new families to our learning community. (15)
  • Announcements: Open space for anyone in the community to share information with the group. (5)
  • Education Report: Students will be sharing presentations about their learning during our 3-week Intensives in February. (60 min)
  • Team Reports: This section of the meeting allows our various teams and ad hoc committees to share updates and information with the community. (15)
  • Community Discussion: Determining our approach to wearing masks in school this spring. The teachers, staff, and Board are re-evaluating COVID policies in light of the newest changes and seek community input.
  • Q&A: Time will always be allotted for the community to ask and answer questions. (5)
  • We will end the large group meeting with Compliments (5). Following the end of the large group meeting, some staff will be available for parents and students to check in with

Students are strongly encouraged to participate in the ASM. This is their school, and many important decisions are made at the meetings. The school remains open until the meeting begins, so students may choose to remain at school until the meeting in order to save parents a trip to the school.

A reminder that anyone in the community can submit items for our agenda prior to the All School Meeting meetings. When submitting an agenda item, please include a brief description of the topic and an estimate of the amount of time you would like to devote to it. Agenda items should be submitted on Fridays before an ASM.

Add/Drop Ends This Week

Students have until Wednesday to try out classes in our new schedule. We will ask students to commit to their course selection this week during advisory. Once the Add/Drop period is over, students will need written permission from teachers, advisors, and parents to withdraw from a class.

Student IDs

Last week, students posed for their student ID photos. Susan is designing IDs for students to use as needed, and this week a group will use them to get library cards.

OTB Donations Wanted

Spring cleaning time!? As you start cleaning out your house, please remember that OTB is taking donations 7 days a week between 10a-3p. Call first to make sure it’s something they don’t have too much of already 604-5050. The store sells gently used clothing, household items, furniture, art, decorative items, dishes, cookware, books, and jewelry (among other things).

Volunteers for May 21 Spring Festival

As promised, the Events Team has compiled a list of volunteer requests for The New School Spring Festival (formerly Old Fashioned Community Picnic). We have "rebranded" our event after deciding to sell pizza rather than custom picnic baskets in the interest of simplicity.

This is an all-hands-on-deck event, and we hope that everyone will be able to help out.

Here is a link to a list of our volunteer needs. At Monday’s All School Meeting (6p at TNS) the Events Team will pass around a sign up sheet, so you can pick what you’d like to help with. Feel free to email Scott before the meeting if there’s a job you really want to do. In addition to helping during the event, there are opportunities before and after if you’re unable to make it the day of.

Facilities Needs

We have some trash items that need to go to the dump and some clinks bags that need to be stickered and dropped off at the local Hannaford. Connect with Scott if you’re able to help with this.
