Report Cards and Christmas Break

The 2nd quarter/1st semester ends on Friday, Dec. 18th. Please make sure your accounts are in good standing (tuition, lunch, missing library books, etc). Negative account balances will result in a report card hold until balances are in good standing. Christmas break begins on Monday, Dec. 21st. We will return to school on Tuesday, Jan. 5th. Report cards will go home the Friday after we return. Have a safe and blessed Christmas break!

Holiday Travel & Gatherings

With the COVID-19 vaccine starting to roll out, we are seeing a light at the end of the tunnel! However, the vaccine is not yet widely available, and we must remain vigilant as cases continue to rise across the state and nation. Please remember to follow best practice mitigation strategies, and please fill out the Travel and Large Gathering Report when warranted. Remember, we are not asking you to seek permission for your activity when you fill out this form. It is simply to give Mrs. Goldsworthy information that will help her decide if additional precautions may be necessary following your activity. She will contact you if needed. Also, please continue to email COVID-19 exposures and positives to illness-report@steugeneschool.org during the break.

Seeking Nominees for CSSE's Distinguished Graduate Award

End-of-Year Giving

Give the gift of a Catholic education by helping The Catholic School of St. Eugene provide scholarships for students to attend our school, AND earn a tax credit! This past year we were able to help students receive a Catholic education at CSSE thanks to gifts from generous donors. Make Catholic education accessible to more students in the coming year by contributing to the Tax Credit Scholarship by December 31st. Go online to https://archokc.org/tcs-steugene to make a gift to support scholarships at Saint Eugene and receive a tax credit for this year.

SALT Day of Service

January 18, 2021 in an in-session day for Archdiocesan Catholic Schools. The Catholic School of St. Eugene will honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by participating in acts of service on that day. For the last several years, students, staff and volunteers carry on King’s legacy by helping others on his day of remembrance. This call to serve is part of our school curriculum, SALT (Serve, Appreciate, Love, Teach), which students learn about all year. While COVID-19 restrictions have limited our students’ ability to go out and serve the greater community on MLK, Jr. Day this year, we will still honor King’s legacy in our own school and parish community. Grade levels will be planning in early January - stay tuned for details. Don’t forget to look for that beautiful blue SALT shirt and have it ready for Jan. 18th. Those who ordered a new shirt or requested a size exchange will be notified when shirts are ready for distribution.

In Case You Missed It - School News on Repeat

Cleaning Products Clorox Wipes and other antibacterial cleaning products are limited and in demand again. While we still have some, we anticipate needing more throughout the school year. If you are out and about and see Clorox or any other antibacterial cleaning wipe, please pick up an extra for the school!

Calling all technology minded individuals! We would like to form a 2-3 person team of volunteers to help maintain technology around the school. IT service calls can take a huge bite out of our budget, so we are looking for people who have experience with maintaining networks and general troubleshooting (desktops, Chromebooks, printers, smart devices, etc). Ideally each volunteer would be able to make a 2-3 year commitment, and would help find their replacement before rolling off the tech team. An example of some of the tasks we need help with include updating desktops to Windows 10, making sure computers are connected to network printers, checking that security updates are completed regularly, setting up new equipment as needed, helping remove broken/outdated tech from inventory, salvaging usable components, etc. Please contact Mrs. Goldsworthy and reference Tech Team in your subject heading.

Show Green Team Your Green Practices! We wanted to reach out to all of our Green Team members and the school as a whole. Green Team is having a Photo Drive! Please take and share pictures of the environmentally friendly things you are doing at home over the Christmas holidays. This will be a fun way to connect and inspire others! Be everGreen! Email your photos and a brief explanation to Mrs. Hattaway, and we will share your posts!

Looking for a Volunteer Musician! We would love to have music in the church again! We are looking for a volunteer or two to play the piano or guitar for either or both school masses each week. If you are willing to play some of the liturgical music, please let Mrs. Goldsworthy know. principal@steugeneschool.org
