Wilson Parent Newsletter
December 2017
Message from the Principal
To the Wilson Community,
Season’s greetings and a happy new year! It's hard to believe we are already wrapping up 2017 and 2018 is right around the corner. Wilson students and staff have been busy reinforcing ROAR (Respect, Ownership, Attitude and Responsibility) behaviors throughout the different locations in our school. As students show behaviors that demonstrate ROAR expectations, they earn Wildcat dollars to spend within the classroom and at the school store. Thank you for your strong partnership to help your child(ren) show their best ROAR behaviors at school!
Wilson has been busy with our Winter Concert performance, 1st Trimester Bowling Celebration, Jump Rope for Heart celebration and swearing in our students for the Wilson Student Leadership team and Safety Patrol. During December, various classes and grade levels will begin studies on traditions and holidays that are celebrated by their classroom peers. We are lucky to have many traditions to learn from our friends at school.
We wish you all the light your heart can hold as the days get shorter, and the temperatures drop – filled with stories of great learning (and fun!) at Wilson Elementary School. Stay warm and enjoy the family time with your loved ones!
Warmly, Melodee Hoffner

Science Fair
The Wilson Science Fair will take place Tuesday, March 13. Even though it is three months away, there may be a few students who want to start planning for a project that may take a longer period of time. Bill McClintock, 1st grade teacher, will once again coordinate this project.
Information for the Science Fair will be available in January. Feel free to contact Mr. McClintock with any questions you may have at 444-8449.

Fundraiser
The final numbers are in from our Randy's Meats fundraiser. This is PTO's primary fundraiser for the year and where the bulk of our funds come from. Thank you to everyone who helped with selling, pick-up and distributing items. This year we profited $6425.10. Thank you Wilson families.
Box Tops
Great job Wilson Families! During our drive to collect box tops this summer we were able to earn $1052.70! WAY TO GO! Keep bringing them in throughout the year and follow our Facebook page at Wilson Elementary PTO to keep up to date on cut off times. We were also able to earn $485.00 from Milk Moola!
Upcoming Events
December 19 - PTO monthly meeting in the teacher's lounge at 5:00 p.m. Everyone is welcome. We have also started planning for the Wilson school carnival and we are looking for a few new carnival chair people to follow in the footsteps of those families that will be moving on to the middle school next year. If interested please come to the meeting or email me at Wilsonpto1@gmail.com.
January 27 - Wilson School Carnival 4:00-7:00 p.m.
More information will be sent home before winter break. Please make sure to fill out your volunteer forms at that time and return them to the school as soon as possible. The carnival requires about 75 volunteers. Volunteers can be parents, grandparents, neighbors or friends. Please remember that you will need to have a background check completed to volunteer. Contact Beth Youngquist in the Wilson office to inquire about how to get this completed.
