Principal's Message
Dear Beck Families,
Thank you so much for making this a very successful year at Beck. Because of your support and the partnerships that we have built, our students have experienced extraordinary success in both academics, and service learning.
As we began preparing to close the 2016-2017 school year, it is important to take a moment and reflect. As I have mentioned in previous newsletters, we are very proud of our students and staff for being recognized as a National School of Character. We understand that we are not perfect, and that we continue to learn and grow in this area. However, I am excited about the changes that I am seeing in our students. They are becoming more self-aware, and making choices that reflect good citizenship. They are buying into our True Blue Code. We appreciate your support in helping us to develop strong character in our students.
Academically, I have seen students being challenged with new content, and opportunities to create and produce evidence in innovative ways. Our teachers have worked tirelessly to design learning experiences that focus on appropriate levels of rigor while emphasizing relevancy. This is important so that students can transfer learning to relevant contexts and apply skills in various ways. I hope you have enjoyed seeing their work as much as I have. Our students and teachers are committed to excellence which shows in the effort they produce to complete their work at high levels of quality.
At Beck, our goal is to continuously look for ways to improve. As we close out this school year, my team will be looking at ways that we can improve opportunities we provide for our learners. Our teachers are signed up and eager to attend professional development this summer that will improve their practice and have a positive impact on student learning.
As always, it is a privilege to serve this community as your principal. I look forward to the celebrations this week, and planning for continued success in the future.
