Happy Sunday, September 9th Birthday to 1st Grade Teacher Assistant Kat Bednar. We wish you a super day.



The PUE PTA is excited to kick off our 1st Better Together Campaign. The campaign will run from September 10th through October 26th. Look for the flyer in your child's Tuesday folder. The PTA is asking for each family to make a TAX DEDUCTIBLE donation of $35 for each child or $50 per family in order to meet our goal of $20,000. Make sure you send in the donation form on the back of the flyer so your classroom will receive their reward! Please join PUE families for our first Fall clean up day on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Our main goals for this date will be to significantly clean out the carpool island to improve visibility and to remove debris and bushes in front of the K-1 hall facing the parking lot. We will also plant grass seed where the butterfly garden was cleaned out this past April.

We welcome parents, students and staff to help make our school grounds look fresher and beautiful. If interested in helping with landscaping events, please join the Landscaping Hub in MemberHub. You may also send an email to for questions, comments and suggestions.

We greatly need volunteers to help make this a success! Water and snacks will be provided by the PTA. Students are welcome to participate and their parents must also be present. We hope to see you there!



BRING YOUR DRIVER'S LICENSE. A new visitor sign in system called Lobbyguard was just installed. The system uses both a touch screen and license scanner to help expedite your sign in process. We are working out the kinks but encourage you to use the touchscreen system when your are visiting the school. There are many advantages to the system once we all learn and get use to it. More features will be shared in the coming weeks.

Staff Appreciation Meals for 2018-19: This year PTA would like to provide staff appreciation meals for the PUE staff in a different way. Instead of asking all parents for contributions for every early release meal they are asking that parents from each grade level to be responsible for just ONE meal. After that they are done. The upcoming Early Release Meal on Friday, September 28th will be the responsibility of 5th GRADE PARENTS!!! That being said all 5th grade classrooms will are being asked to contribute to their teacher's lunch. PUE Art Club: Do you have a Fourth and Fifth grade student interested in further developing their art skills? Consider signing up for Art Club. Click on the following Google form link so your child can become a member. Membership will be limited to the first 35 students. If you have any questions please email Mrs. Hopper at

Lego Club is Returning: Lego Club is returning. The 3-5th graders will meet on the third Tuesday of each month and the K-2 on the third Wednesday of each month. Both groups will meet in the Media Center from 8-8:45. Your child must register to participate in the program. Registration fliers will be coming out soon. Be sure to check your Tuesday Folders.

Want to find out more about the curriculum that your son or daughter is learning this year? Go to the PUE website under the Academics and Programs tab and go your child's grade level. You will find a link to your child's teacher's email AND a link called resource links with curriculum for each content area.

MemberHub is coming!!! Look for a "Join" link this week to streamline your communication at PUE! You may also use the link to sign up for volunteer opportunities if you have not already submitted your volunteer form. All volunteer forms will be manually input by the PTA.

We are having our first family fun event for the 2018-2019 school year at TreeRunner Adventure Park on Sunday, September 23rd from 3-6pm. TreeRunner is offering PUE families a $10 per student discount. Access the following link PRIOR TO WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19TH to sign up your family.



Laura Cox, our PTA School Store Manager would like to get another order submitted in the next few weeks so we have student field trip T-shirts for early September as we're quickly selling out of some colors and sizes of our new field trip shirts! Make sure to get your PUE field trip t-shirt soon! You can purchase the original paw design while quantities last or try out the new panther logo in both cotton and dry fit. Please send any transportation changes to your child's homeroom teacher by written note or by alerting the office by 12:00 Noon to insure that the proper change of transportation is communicated to your child.


Please walk your child into the school if you arrive at 9:10 or after. Our Safety Patrol is on duty until 9:10. Also, please be aware that the school doors open at 8:45 for students NOT enrolled in the Before School Program. Students are considered on time if they are in their classrooms ready to start the day at 9:15. If a child arrives at 9:14 and is not in their classroom by the the 9:15 bell they are considered tardy.


It is important for safety and the efficacy of our carpool that we remember that a single line should be maintained in the morning until the arrival bell rings at 8:45 and then at 3:15 in the afternoon. Cell phones should be put aside once the carpool line starts moving. It is essential that your focus is on student safety at that time. I have directed staff to ask you put your phone down if it is being used once carpool has started. We can't afford any student injuries, especially when preventable.

CARPOOL NUMBERS: THANKS TO ALL THAT HAVE OBTAINED AND DISPLAY THEIR CARPOOL NUMBER. If you do not have a carpool number or numbers please stop by the office to pick one or more up. Staff will remind you of this as you come through our afternoon carpool line. It is important that you then hang your carpool number on your mirror until your child gets in the car.


Bus tags with your child's name address and phone number will be attached to your child's backpack at the start of the year. A staff member and the bus driver will look for this prior to getting on the bus in the afternoon. If your child's falls off a replacement will be made.


Please be aware that WCPSS safety guidelines state that if a parent or adult is not at the bus stop to receive your child the child will be returned to the school and you will be called to pick up. During the first weeks of school it is wise to be at the stop early to prevent your needing to drive to the school for pickup.
