Who is the fairest of them all?

The conflict started when the three goddesses Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite were arguing over who was the most beautiful of the three. They decided to ask a mortal man, Paris to judge who was the most beautiful. Paris thought they were all equally beautiful so the goddesses attmepted to bribe Paris. Hera offered all of Europe and Asia. Athena offered skill in warfare and wisdom beyond compare. Aphrodite offered the love of the most beautiful woman in the world. Paris chose Aphrodite and thus earned the love of the most beautiful woman in the world but also earned the scorn of Hera and Athena.

Paris found his way into the family of King Priam the King of Troy a wealthy and powerful city state on the coast of modern day Turkey. Paris and his brother Hector were sent to the kingdom of Sparta to meet with King Menelaus . Menelaus was married to Helen widely considered the most beautiful woman in the world. As promised Paris and Helen fell instantly in love and the very next night Helen, Paris and the rest of the Trojans Ran off into the night. Menelaus called upon all the kingdoms of Greece to rally to him to go and crush the Trojans.
