What are your plans after high school? I want to get my bachelor's degree in photography at SEMO then get married to my high school sweetheart, Clayton, who is in the Air Force. I want to own my own studio and be my own boss doing what I love!
What have you learned that has made a difference to you? I always thought I wanted to be a film director because I love movies, but when I learned about how to use professional cameras for photography, I fell in love with capturing everyone's memories.
What advice do you have for a student considering to be a student at the CTC? Go for it!! If you find a class that is right up your alley, take it! You will learn so much more than just how to work in your career field. You learn good social skills and how to get your dream job...not to mention all the awesome friends you'll make!

Marketing
This course will provide students with an overview of the activities associated with the marketing of goods and services to customers. Students will gain an understanding of the role of retailing within a free-enterprise society, and the concepts and practices necessary for successfully carrying out the retail functions. This is an ideal course for those students who have a career interest in marketing or management. Students enrolled in this program will gain “real world” experiences through the operation of a mini-scale store.
THREE THINGS MR. BAREMORE WANTS YOU TO KNOW ABOUT MARKETING:
1. Students go on to work in a variety of retail, manufacturing, or service related businesses.
2. Marketing helps students learn customer service skills, money handling, merchandising, ordering and basic retail operations.
3. This program has a variety of activities that allow students to learn from classroom discussions to lab experiences to working in the student-run store.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Haley Wells
What high school are you from? 12th grade at Cape Central
What made you choose Marketing? I have always been good with numbers and my dad encouraged me to go into Accounting. I realized that Marketing has an aspect of accounting, so I thought this would be a good fit for me.
What are your plans after high school? I want to finish my degree at Mineral Area since I'm already getting free credit. I also have an interest in photography.
What have you learned that has made a difference to you? Budgeting--I know that sounds weird, but because of Mr. Baremore's class, I know what to look out for when I become an adult. I know what to do with my money and what not to do. He sets us up for success.
What advice do you have for a student considering to be a student at the CTC? Choose something you truly love and not just what your friends are taking. Don't goof around your freshmen and sophomore year because you may not be able to come if you do.
What are your hobbies? I enjoy writing poems and stories, editing photos, dressing up, and hanging out with my two-year-old brother.
What is one thing about you that would surprise people? I am very talkative once you get to know me and will say what I think (but in a nice and polite way).

Auto Collision
This program provides training in auto collision repair; straightening sheet metal with hand and power tools, dent filling with plastics, sanding and masking techniques.
Basic instruction in mig welding is given for panel replacement. Painting is primarily with base coat/clear coat paint system. Students will complete projects on late model vehicles.
The second year provides advanced training in all phases of the occupation including air conditioning, estimation, spraying urethane finishes of all types, color blending, and paint matching. Students will complete projects on a variety of vehicles.
THREE THINGS MR. CARLISLE WANTS YOU TO KNOW ABOUT AUTO COLLISION:
1. In two years, we cover 17 I-Car courses and students have the opportunity to earn I-CAR Pro Level 1 for refinishing technician and non-structural repair.
2. Shop setting is a mix of project sheets and live vehicles. Students learn different techniques, tools, and hands on skills on project sheets before moving on to work on live vehicles. This way students have the basic understanding and are working toward his/her skill set before advancing to a vehicle.
3. I have students who work at very different salvage yards around town--James Auto Body, Van Matre, Complete Collision, Ford Groves, Johannes Auto Parts and Junior Sinn Auto Parts.
STUDENT SPOTLIGHT: Austin Roark
What high school are you from? I am a senior at Woodland High School.
What made you choose Auto Collision? I have always enjoyed working on cars and with my hands. I wanted to try this out to see if this is something I wanted to make a career out of.
What are your plans after high school? I want to go to Ranken Technical College or Mineral Area--depending on scholarship money.
What have you learned that has made a difference to you? I've learned you have to prioritize your time when working. Communicating with the customer, with your classmates, and with your boss is huge! You have to be able to analyze the work that has to be done and give the customer a date that you can have it finished by. You have to communicate with your classmates and let me know what you've done on that vehicle in case they have to pick up where you left off the next day. You also have to pay attention to the little details. It makes a big difference how it looks on the outside and everyone judges you (and knows what kind of worker you are and what your skill set is) by how the outside looks.
What advice do you have for a student considering to be a student at the CTC? Make sure you have all your other high school credits done because, if you don't, you won't be able to attend CTC. I know someone who slacked off their freshmen and sophomore year and wasn't able to come here because of being behind credits.
What are your hobbies? working on cars, hunting, and fishing
What is one thing about you that would surprise people? Most people think I'm really quiet, but I open up around people and talk their ears off.
