Michael McCurdyWith a Master’s degree in Education Media Design & Technology, 20 years of teaching experience and extensive instructional design/instructional technology experience he comes to share his passion of how to support student success in various learning environments and modalities by using existing and emerging technologies paired with rich pedagogy. | | Dr. Larissa Pires With a PhD in History of Science and Technology, experience teaching undergraduate and graduate students, and having worked towards community growth in an interdepartmental setting, Dr. Pires looks forward to enhancing our strengths in faculty development. |

2022 Regents' Scholarship of Teaching Learning (SoTL) Award
Dr DiGregorio was also the 2021 CTE SoTL Scholar and currently serves as a Co-Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal for Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
Governor's Teaching Fellowship
The Governor's Teaching Fellows Program was established by Zell Miller, Governor of Georgia, 1991-1999, to provide Georgia's higher education faculty with expanded opportunities for developing important teaching skills. The program is offered through the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia. Governor's Teaching Fellows may participate in either an academic-year symposia or an intensive summer symposium.
Deadline for Academic Year 2022-2023 is February 9, 2022 by 5 PM.

Online Teaching
The university Distance Education Policy requires that faculty be trained and certified before teaching online courses. To meet the certification requirement, the Faculty Center has developed 2 training programs. Information about the programs and registration information can be found at the links below.
Teaching Online Courses (TOC) Program: Earn CTE certification for the design and delivery of online courses at Georgia Southern with our facilitated online workshop and design practicum. Topics include instructional design theory, engaging online students, Quality Matters course design standards, meeting Web accessibility guidelines, and more!
Improving Your Online Course (IYOC): Official Quality Matters online workshop. Participants use the QM Rubric of 42 course design standards to improve the quality of their online course.

Navigating Folio for Your Students
Americans & the Holocaust
Henderson Library will host Americans and the Holocaust, a traveling exhibition from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum that examines the motives, pressures and fears that shaped Americans’ responses to Nazism, war and genocide in Europe during the 1930s and 1940s. The touring library exhibition — based on the special exhibition of the same name at the Museum — will be on display from February 1 to March 11, 2022. Virtual and docent-led tours will be available to classes and groups throughout the exhibition period.

The Faculty Center has always maintained well-stocked book resources in each campus office. Thanks to the online catalogue service LibraryThing, we are able to let you browse our books on a massive variety of topics before requesting a book.
To reserve a book, please submit a helpdesk ticket for the Center for Teaching Excellence after exploring our catalog. All guidelines and book request information can be found on our website.
