Teacher Feature: Teddy Faxon
Mr. Teddy Faxon teaches Mathematics for DBE! Teddy graduated high school in Gate City, VA, and then enlisted in the Navy where he served as a nuclear engineer laboratory technician after receiving his bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State College. Mr. Faxon then went on to earn his master’s degree in education from East Tennessee State University.
Mr. Faxon worked as a nuclear engineer lab technician, a paint salesman, taught theater for Governor's School at MECC during the summer, and completed various odd jobs such as: welding work at Electro-Mechanical Corporation, furniture inspection, and lab director at Berkline Furniture before finally settling on teaching. Teddy began his teaching career at Steppenstone Youth Treatment Services where he worked for three years. Mr. Faxon then moved to Lincoln Middle School in Morristown for one year, and finally he found his home at D-B EXCEL three years ago!
When he is not teaching, Mr. Faxon enjoys video games, computer programming, tabletop rpgs, and he once played as Eddie in a community theatre production of the Rocky Horror Show. Mr. Faxon is married to the love of his life, Alicia, who has given him two perfect children, Emma and Connor.
Mr. Faxon loves that DBE gives him the ability to connect with students on a one-on-one basis, which allows him to know who they all are as a person. Those connections, he finds, makes getting up in the morning and striving to perfect what he does worthwhile.
