Monk Fryston Weekly News 17.6.22

School target for next week is;

Remember to come to school prepared.

Team green!

Here at Monk Fryston we are very proud to have the Eco-Schools Green Flag. Staff and pupils work hard to consider our environmental impact. We have a team of Eco Warriors. Along with championing all things green they are currently reviewing schools practices to see how we can improve. Can you help? Recycle! Did you know you can bring your old printer cartridges, pens and batteries into school for recycling, all collection boxes are in the school entrance? Used school uniforms can also be donated to the PTA who regularly hold clothes sales this helps raise funds for school and improve our sustainability!

Sporting Competitions

Well done to all those children who have represented our school in various sporting competitions recently. We have been very proud of the way that they represented out school.

Mrs Walsh

Mrs Walsh is currently away from school due to a planned absence. She will return on 4th July.

Goodbye Mrs Harmer.

Sadly, after 14 years working at our school Mrs Harmer will leave us in July. She has achieved a new position in the NHS supporting wellbeing, and we would like to extend to her our best wishes for the future.

The Greatest Animal of All.

On Tuesday, a number of our children attended a MAT science sharing event on “The Greatest Animal of All”. This took place at the new Education Exchange conference centre in Knottingley, and was attended by important science experts as well as the author of the book we have been reading, Penny Worms. We presented our work on the Dung Beetle, and although we didn’t win the event we were congratulated by those present. We are very proud of our children who represented our school brilliantly, and would like to thank Mrs Walsh for helping to organise the day. Two of our Year 6 pupils presented the entire event and were incredible – we think that Ant & Dec now have clear rivals!

Be prepared for the weather.

Although the weather is due to get a little cooler next week, we are (hopefully!) in the season when it is going to be warm and sunny. Please ensure that your child has suncream on before coming to school each day, and has a hat to wear outside.
