OUR SCHOOL HOURS HAVE CHANGED
Our official school day hours are 7:35 AM-2:40 PM. Parent drop-off will begin at 7:10. Students are expected to be in their classrooms, ready to learn at 7:35 AM. When dropping your child off, please provide them with enough time to transition to their classroom by visiting their locker, getting breakfast from the cafeteria (grab and go available every day), and then walking to their homeroom. A student is considered TARDY if they are not in the classroom by 7:35 AM.
SAFETY and SECURITY
As part of the MANY updates to our building this summer, a security vestibule was installed. The vestibule provides an additional security measure for visitors entering our building. The new process requires visitors to be "buzzed" in twice by the front office staff. Visitors dropping off or picking up supplies can do so without entering the main building.
Similar to last year, and when available, an off-duty Chardon Police Officer will be on campus. Officer Jason Elam still serves as the district School Resource Officer and the officers were well-received by students, staff, and parents last year.
SCHEDULES AVAILABLE AUGUST 9th
Student schedules will be posted in Infinite Campus on Wednesday, August 9, @ 4:00 PM. If you are having trouble with your login information, please contact the main office.
Please remember that schedule changes will not be considered unless a compelling educational reason exists. If you have any questions please contact your school counselor.
Janelle Stuart - 4th & 6th grades, janelle.stuart@chardonschools.org
Kate Collins - 5th & 7th grades, kate.collins@chardonschools.org
Bussing information will also be available on August 9th. All information will be shared through the StopFinder app. If you are new to the district please visit the Transporation webpage on how to access the StopFinder app.
CHROMEBOOK DISTRIBUTION
Students should bring their CHROMEBOOK CASES on the first day of school. Teachers will be distributing the device that was assigned to them last year. 4th-grade students will get their Chromebook case and device during the first few days of school.

4th Grade/New Student Orientation
All participants should enter the main door, #1, by the BOE office.
Parents/guardians and students will have a brief presentation in the LGIR followed by all students in attendance informally meeting with the counselors in the media center. This is an excellent opportunity to tour the building, ask questions, and get familiar with your new school.
If you cannot attend, please contact your school counselor to set up a visit before the start of the school year.

TRAFFIC PATTERNS, AM Drop-Off
We have developed a safe and efficient drop-off/pickup system when all parents follow the procedures. Please be patient the first few days during the AM/PM drop-off times. Each day the efficiency of the system improves. Our primary concern is the safety of students during this busy time of day.
Morning Drop-Off: Car Riders
Students being dropped off by car will enter Chardon Middle School using the south or middle driveway off of North Street.
To keep traffic moving and prevent congestion on North Street, close all gaps in between cars when dropping students off. The drop zone will be the entire sidewalk in front of the school and the Board of Education offices. Students will enter door #1 or the main office door.
Drop-off will begin at 7:10 AM
All traffic will exit the CMS parking lot using the North driveway.
Dropping off students on North Street, in the St. Mary’s parking lot, or at the stop sign on Chardon Avenue is prohibited.
TRAFFIC PATTERNS, PM Pick-Up
Afternoon Pick-Up: Car Riders
PM pick-up will begin at 2:40 PM.
The same procedures for entering the parking lot as AM drop-off should be followed. Please DO NOT block the Alcan exit (south driveway) for buses.
Parents who arrive prior to the 2:40 PM dismissal time, should park and wait in the upper Board of Education parking lot. Once the lot is fully occupied (approximately 40 parking spaces) cars can begin to line up along the curb of CMS and the BOE.
Parking in the main lot, and walking through the pick-up line to retrieve your rider is prohibited. This presents a major safety concern and the potential delays will create traffic congestion on North Street.
ALL traffic will exit the north driveway.
PAPERWORK

Instructions on how to complete the update can be found by clicking HERE. This process must be completed on a desktop, laptop, or Chromebook.

These services are provided by federal dollars based on the applications for educational benefits / free & reduced lunch forms that are complete
