Parliament Week!
On Thursday 14th November as part of Parliament Week, an event titled "Democracy; What’s in it for you?" will take place at the City Academy 7pm until 8.30pm in the Feilden Theatre.
It is part of a series of events aimed at inspiring, informing and connecting people with Parliamentary Democracy. Faruk Choudhury (Lord Mayor of Bristol), Hibaq Jama (Human Rights Campaigner and Councillor), Stephen Williams (MP for Bristol West and junior minister for the Department of Communities and Local Government) and Dominic Murphy (Deputy Chair of Lawrence Hill Neighbourhood Partnership - TBC) will all be talking about:
• Why they got into politics, campaigning or influencing
• What democracy can do for people
• How people, especially those from underrepresented groups, can influence change in their communities
Following this the audience will be invited to ask questions and express their own view of how best under-represented groups can shape the democratic process.
