Panthers Defeat Bryant Head To State Championship Finals
For the first time in school history, the Cabot Panthers are playing in the State Basketball Championship Finals.
It was an exciting Saturday night at Panther Arena as the Cabot Panthers took on the Bryant Hornets in the 7A State Championship Semifinals. The arena was packed with Panther fans, in fact, it was standing room only!
After heading into overtime, the Panthers defeated Bryant 50-47. On Wednesday, the Cabot Panthers defeated Springdale 48-40 allowing them to advance to the semifinals.
The state finals will be held next week in Hot Springs at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena. The Panthers play Bentonville Friday, March 11 at 8:45 p.m. Advance Tickets are on sale Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Athletic Office. Adults $8.00 and students are $7.00.
The 2016 7A State Basketball Tournament began Wednesday, March 2. Over the four day period, up to 12,000 visitors from across the state were expected at Panther Arena.
The Cabot School District is very proud to have hosted the amazing tournament and would like to thank the community for their support, and all our staff and volunteers for working so hard to make this year's tournament the best! A special thank you also goes to the Cabot Advertising & Promotionfor helping sponsor this tournament.

Spread the Word to End the Word
Cabot High School students held a “Spread the Word to End the Word” event during both lunch periods Wednesday.
Dozens of CHS students, teachers, and staff pledged to stop using the R-word (retard, retarded). This is the third year for CHS to host the event. Senior Trea Kiser is the coordinator and has been a huge advocate for inclusion of all students.
He says, “I want everyone to join me in taking a stand to raise awareness of the dehumanizing and hurtful effects of the R-word. The language we choose affects everyone around us. Help me build communities of inclusion by pledging to end your use of the R-word, and then Spread the Word to End the Word to your friends.”
Over 500,000 people have pledged their support online since the campaign launched in 2009.
For more information, visit www.r-word.org and take the pledge.
Thank you to THV11 and KARK4 for covering the event.
