Wolverine Weekly
Sunday, March 27-Newsletter for the Wilder Community
Welcome to Week 28!
Greetings Wolverine Pack!
It is hard to believe but it is time for us to start scheduling for the 2022-2023 school year! If you are interested in the Henrico Virtual Academy, please plan to attend the Prospective Student Information Session on 3/29. Information about this is available here.
The school calendar has been updated to include April-June dates. These are preliminary dates and more specific information will be shared soon. This calendar is included at the end of this newsletter.
Just a reminder that this is a 4-day week with April 1 being a student and staff holiday. Spring break is April 4-8. The next community newsletter will be shared on Sunday, April 10. Enjoy your break!
Have a great week 28!
~Mrs. Broudy

Congratulations Scholars!
Congratulations to our MATHCOUNTs state qualifiers:
Camden Nguyen (7th grade) – ranked 7 out of 55 in the chapter competition
Ruohan (Evan) Xu (6th grade) – ranked 12 out of 55 in the chapter competition
Jenny Ding (6th grade) – ranked 18 out of 55 in the chapter competition
Isaac McGraw (6th grade) – ranked 19 out of 55 in the chapter competition
Ilia Iliev (8th grade) – ranked 23 out of 55 in the chapter competition
Jules (Jinx) Kim (7th grade) – ranked 26 out of 55 in the chapter competition
The top 5 students in each chapter automatically qualify for states. Then others are advanced based on the discretion of the state competition director. They look at our students’ scores compared to all students in the state. Since our chapter is very strong and one of the largest, we had quite a few students chosen.
Gifted Education Advisory Committee News
Please join us! Henrico’s Teaching, Learning and Innovation Department and Gifted Programs will host Dr. Jeanine Jannot on March 31st, at 6:00 PM, at a Gifted Education Advisory Committee meeting. This hybrid meeting will be hosted in the Rivers Edge Elementary library. Parent/guardian(s) may attend in-person or virtually through Microsoft Teams: Microsoft Teams Link
Dr. Jannot’s session will cover developmental and cultural influences that cause today’s students to feel overwhelmed and stressed out, how this affects them academically and emotionally, and why they don’t ask for help. The “Disintegrating Student” session will teach parents how to help their child embrace what’s going right, address what’s going wrong, and develop the skills they need for success in school. Please join us for this hybrid in-person and virtual meeting and Q & A session.

Attendance
It is important that students attend school each day and arrive on time to ensure they are receiving all of their instruction. Please see below for important information regarding attendance.
· School starts at 8:05 each day. Students are considered tardy if they arrive at 8:30 or later.
· Notify the school by calling the front office at (804) 515-1100 if your child will be absent from school. If we are not notified of an absence, your child will be marked absent unexcused automatically.
· Our attendance team regularly monitors student attendance. Families of students with five or more unexcused absences will be required to meet to develop a support plan for attendance.
· If there is anything we can do to support your efforts in making sure your child is at school every day, please reach out to your child’s school counselor or our Family Advocate, Mrs. Clarke!
