TEKS Standards
Every curriculum unit for our core content subject areas are based on our Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills or TEKS that the State of Texas requires all schools to teach students. These standards outline the major focus of our lessons and activities. The link below will take you to the Lead4Ward website that has all of the content standards for each one of our core content classes by grade level.

6th Grade Math - Students will continue to focus on TEKS 6.6A, 6.6B, 6.6C, and 6.11A in Unit 5 - Relationships in Two Variables. Students will represent the relationship between independent and dependent variables using multiple representations and equations in the form y = kx and y = x + b. Students will finish up the week with their Bi-Weekly Quiz.

7th Grade Math
7th Grade Math - Students will begin TEKS 7.4D, and 7.4E. These TEKS require students to work with ratios, rates, and percents to financial problems. Additionally, students will use rates to convert between measurement systems. Students will finish up the week with their Bi-Weekly Quiz.

7th Grade ELA
7th Grade ELA - Students will be focused on writing expository essays based on focused prompts. Students will also engage in revising and editing various passages along with their own personal expository writing (TEKS - 7.14ABCDE).

7th Grade Texas History (U.S. History Unit)
7th Grade - Students will be engaged in activities that focus on the Early Republic of the United States of America and the Age of Jackson. Students will focus on George Washington's presidency and how it set the foundation for the country. Students will also focus on the first 7 presidents of the united states and the foreign and domestic issues that shaped the nation.

8th Grade Math
8th Grade Math - 8th Grade Students will continue to focus on Pythagorean Theorem. Students will observe how Pythagorean Theorem can be used to determine the distance between two points on a coordinate plane. Later, students will examine how to determine if a given triangle is a right triangle using the converse of Pythagorean Theorem. (TEKS, 8.7C, 8.7D).

Algebra - Students will focus on standard A.5C, solving systems of linear equations. Students will use graphing, substitution, or elimination methods to solve real-world problems involving two equations.

8th Grade ELA
8th Grade ELA - ·Write responses to literary or expository texts that demonstrate the use of writing skills for a multi-paragraph essay and provide sustained evidence from the text using quotations when appropriate; and Students write persuasive texts to influence the attitudes or actions of a specific audience on specific issues. Students are expected to write a persuasive essay to the appropriate audience that includes evidence that is logically organized to support the author's viewpoint and that differentiates between fact and opinion (TEKS - 8.16A, 8.17B, 8.17C, 8.18C, 8.FIG19A).
