CHS Choir Update #2
A Weekly Newsletter for Friends & Family of the CHS Choir
Greetings CHS Choir Family!
While the way in which we started this school year may have been different than what we hoped, it was so wonderful to welcome each of you back into the choir room this week. I cannot wait to continue our work together and explore the possibilities of this year together.
Throughout the course of the week, each of you showed a willingness to take risks, engage in learning, and demonstrated a refreshing amount of resilience in the face of technical challenges as they presented themself. Thank you for your flexibility.
I could not be more proud of how you are adjusting to new routines and schedules, and the connections you are starting to develop with your peers. You have tried everything that has been asked of you and I could not be more grateful for your willing spirits and your trust.
Below you will find important information about program activities, deadlines, and opportunities for students over the next few weeks. Please take a moment to review this bulletin for any information that might pertain to you and/or your student. A recording of Thursday night's Parent Meeting will be posted in Schoology on Monday for students/family members to review at their convenience.
We look forward to partnering with each of you (both students and parents) as we work to make this a year of meaningful opportunities and growth for everyone associated with our program. Please don't hesitate to let us know if we can be of any assistance to you in any way. We are here for you!
Warmest Regards,

CHS Choir Department Handbook & Forms
Below you will find a copy of the CHS Choir Department Handbook. This handbook is provided as a tool used to help familiarize families with the policies, procedures, and opportunities that exist for students within our department. After you have reviewed the handbook, please open and sign the digital forms posted below.
All FORMS are due by Sept. 9th. We ark that all families make at least one payment towards their FEES by Friday, Sept. 11th. Fees may be paid electronically via CutTime or with cash/check. Please contact Mr. Cooley if paper copies of these documents are required.
All-State Choir Sectionals Begin This Week
The All-State Choir audition process is an annual competition hosted each year by TMEA to encourage and empower students that wish to pursue advanced levels of music-making outside of the traditional choir classroom experience. Students in the CHS Choir Program regularly participate in this process and frequently earn spots in the District and Region Choirs, as well as the All-State Choirs.
To support our students in their preparation and engagement in this process, we host sectionals after school during which time we work on repertoire and discuss performance techniques for the audition repertoire. This week's sectional schedule is included in the agenda above.
All CHS Choir members are invited to attend and engage in this process! It is a great way to sharpen musical skills and make connections with other choir members in our program.
A note about auditions: All auditions will be conducted online this year. That means no singing in front of a curtain or a live panel of judges! Sight-reading has also been removed from the audition as well.

Voice Lesson Enrollment is Now Open!
It is the goal of the Centennial High School Choral Department to provide the very best learning experience for every student enrolled in our program. One way in which the Choral Department realizes this goal is through the Music Enrichment Program (CMEP). By choosing to participate in this program, students will receive individualized instruction that will help them develop a greater understanding of healthy singing techniques and performance habits that will serve them for years to come. For more information about this program and how we use it to promote student growth, please click on the links below.
Welcome Back Bags!
This year, the CHS Choir Booster Club is putting together Welcome Back Bags" for each of our choir members. Items included in these bags are meant to provide students with tools that promote safety during rehearsal and a sense of community among our members. In addition to the items pictured below, students will also receive a choir t-shirt, a face shield, hand sanitizer, a supplemental workbook, and their choir folder.
Students that have not yet received their materials as asked to contact Mr. Cooley as soon as possible to ensure that they have access to materials you will need for class this week.
Masks, T-Shirts, and Pullovers will be distributed following the collection of student fees.
Setting up your CutTime Account [Action Required]
The CHS Choir Department uses CutTime to help manage program communications, student participation records, administer financial records, share volunteer needs, celebrate program events, and so much more. Invitations to join this system were sent out last week. If you did not receive this email, please send Mr. Cooley an email as soon as possible.
Special Note: For many families, only one parent will receive this email. If you would like more than one parent to have access to your student's account, the following process can be used:
- Go to www.cuttime.net and select “Student/Parent Sign Up” at top of the screen.
- Read the instructions and complete the registration form provided.
- Our Group Name (to be entered in the first blank) is "Centennial HS Choir."
- Your position should be set to "Parent."
- Agree to the Terms and Commitments.
- Click the “Register Now” button.
Students were taught how to access their accounts on Friday during class and were asked to update key pieces of information in their account by Tuesday, Sept 8th.
