CTE STATE CHAMPION
Kayleia Bedal, CHS Senior, received a Gold Medal in Cosmetology at Skills USA Competition. Kayleia will go on to compete in the National Championships in Louisville, KY this June. Congrats and good luck at Nationals!
NHS “TAP IN”
On Wednesday, April 11th, current National Honor Society members "tapped-in" new members by presenting them with a letter of congratulations and a carnation. These students were recognized for maintaining a 3.25 GPA, participating in service to the community, demonstrating leadership, and maintaining high character. These students will be honored in an Induction Ceremony on Thursday, April 19 at 7 p.m. in the CCA.
MS(2) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Congratulations to Nizhoni Agenbroad, CHS Freshman, for being selected out of 37 students nationwide for the MS(2) (Matched Savings) scholarship program. MS(2) was a lengthy application process, and after all applications were submitted nationwide, only 300 were picked for review. From the 300 reviewed, 100 students were picked for a face to face interview. From the 100 interviewed, only 37 were awarded. This outreach program scholarship is roughly worth $35,000 and includes roundtrip airfare to Massachusetts, 5 weeks of room & board, and full tuition for the next 3 summers.
WOLVES WIN TOURNEY
Congratulations to CHS Boys Volleyball for winning the 2018 Brophy Prep Invitational Volleyball Tournament! In addition to the tourney win, Mason Mullins and Jonny Bowles were named to the All-Tournament Team. Great job, Wolves!

MR. CHS
Mr. CHS 2018 is Mr. Pep- Malachi Lasit! 1st Runner-up was Mr. Class Clown- Kacey Huntsman, 2nd Runner-up was Mr. President- Damijah Carter, and Mr. Congeniality (voted on by fellow contestants) went to Mr. Sound Guy- Benji Quintanilla. Contestants were escorted by girls form the theatre program. There were entertaining skits written and performed by APAC/Company Theatre. Many thanks to our judges/chaperones: Peggy Bejarano, Melanie Mello, Gena Dant, Sara Wyffels, Angelika Foerst, Violet Nelson, Amy Komitsky, Megan Ramsey, April Brewington, and Cathy Jones.
DANCE CONCERT
Last week’s dance concert “In All Directions” was a terrific exhibition of student choreography, dance, stage and sound directing, lighting, and more! Modazz, Advanced Dance and Improv, under the direction of Mrs. Kathy Buren, performed 21 numbers to music from various artists including Pink, AC/DC, Ariana Grande and NSYNC. It was a great concert!
PROM
CHS’s Junior/Senior Prom, The Great Gatsby, was a huge success! Villa Siena was the perfect venue for a Gatsby-themed dance, and StuCo went above and beyond with a terrific DJ, decorations and snacks. Thanks to everyone who planned, attended, and assisted with the dance. Special congratulations to Janet Rodriguez and Noah Soto, 2018 Prom Queen and King!
IMPACT ASSEMBLY
Messages of “Be safe” and “Don’t drive distracted or under the influence” were delivered to CHS Seniors at last Thursday’s IMPACT Assembly. Special thanks to Chandler Police and Fire Departments, PMT Ambulance EMTs, Native Air, Trauma Nurse Valerie Holsinger RN, Jennifer Thompson, Ted Huntington, Sara Davirro from MADD, All City Towing, Bueler’s Mortuary, Ms. Likes’ theater students, Tenisha Grant, and CHS and CUSD staff.
IB MYP PERSONAL PROJECT SHOWCASE
Over 100 10th grade students completed the requirements for the IB Middle Years Program which include a Personal Project. Their projects were showcased last week in the CCA, and students from throughout campus visited the showcase and learned info about the MYP students’ inquiry-based projects.
The showcase continued Wednesday evening and commenced with the MYP Completion Ceremony where students received a CHS Academic Letter. Excellent work, Wolves!

DUAL ENROLLMENT TUITION ASSISTANCE
Do you plan on doing Dual Enrollment classes next school year and need help with the cost?
Applications for the Maricopa Grant are due by:
Priority Deadline: Thursday, May 31st
Final Deadline: Friday, August 31st
Don't miss the deadline and miss your chance to be awarded tuition for your dual enrollment classes! Funds are awarded on a first-come first-serve basis and eligibility is based on financial need. If you don't apply now and decide this fall to take a dual enrollment class, the funds may be gone.
There is no commitment to register for classes if your plans change in the fall, but applying now allows you to determine your eligibility and become pre-qualified for funding.
Students must apply now to receive tuition assistance for the dual classes they plan on taking in the 2018-2019 school year. Please refer to the Tuition Assistance link on our website for more information and access to a packet which includes: an informational cover sheet and application. Please be sure to follow the directions carefully as incomplete applications cannot be processed.

May is the month for Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) testing. Please see the testing dates calendar for specific info on dates, times, and locations.

All college presentations will take place in the CHS College and Career Center, unless otherwise specified. Students should sign up outside the CHS College and Career Center to attend a presentation. Students will receive a pass in class on the day of the presentation.

SENIOR SCHOLARSHIP INFO
The Otto and Edna Neely Foundation Scholarship-This scholarship is for seniors who want to obtain a college education or technical training. Each scholarship is in the amount of $3,000 per academic year and is for four consecutive years or until the student graduates. CHS will nominate one senior for this scholarship. See Ms. Jaramillo in the College and Career Center for applicant qualifications and application information. Applications, along with letters of recommendation and financial information are due to Ms. Jaramillo by April 16, 2018.

Seniors, please keep track of ALL scholarships/offers you have received, even if you are attending a different school or using only one scholarship/offer. Please attach a copy of all scholarships/offer letters to the Scholarships Offered Form. You must star * the scholarship/offer you are accepting. Please turn in this form to Ms. Jaramillo in the College and Career Center on or before April 14th.
