CHS Model United Nations took part in the Harvard Model United Nations last week. Students had the opportunity to not only take part in the conference but also visit the many historic sites in Boston and surrounding vicinity.
WRESTLERS QUALIFY FOR STATE
Congratulations to the following Arizona Girls State qualifiers: Stefana Jelacic (Section 1 Champ), Carla Rivas (Section 1 Runner-Up), Ryleigh Dye (3rd place Section 1). The girls will compete at State on February 8th in Prescott Valley. Good luck, Wolves!
WRESTLERS WIN IN PAYSON
Please congratulate the following wrestlers for their outstanding performance at the Tim Van Horn Memorial Tournament in Payson last week. Zach Espalin, Thomas Bigelow, Will Kemper, and Nathaniel Deasey took 1st place. Josh Weisman took 3rd, and Trentin Cowell took 5th. Nathaniel Deasey was also given the Outstanding Wrestler award for the upper weights. The boys will compete in Sectionals at CHS on February 2nd. Good luck!
ALL-REGION HONOR BAND
Congratulations to the following students who auditioned on Saturday and were selected to perform in the All-Region Honor Band: Katarina Fenner, Collin Nesbit, Jacob Helgason, and Patrick Stapleton. Additionally, Emily Hawkinson was selected as the number piccolo player and will perform with the All-Region Honor Symphony. Well done!
OUTSTANDING COUNCIL OF DISTINCTION
CHS StuCo had quite a showing at the Arizona Association of Student Councils (AASC) State Conference in Prescott last week. StuCo won the 2018-2019 “Outstanding Council of Distinction” award for its leadership development, activities, service projects, traditions, etc. A very special shout out goes to Damijah Carter, who completed his term of AASC State President. Damijah was the first CHS student to hold the State President title. Congrats, Demijah, CHS StuCo, and advisor Mr. Michael Gray!

SPEAK UP, STAND UP, SAVE A LIFE
CHS students traveled to Grand Canyon University last Tuesday to attend the Speak Up, Stand Up, Save a Life conference that focused on suicide awareness and prevention. Over 3000 students from across the state were there to make the commitment to “Speak Up, Stand up and Save lives.” These students will be part of a team to plan activities on our campus that promote suicide awareness/prevention in the future. Thanks to Mrs. Hunter and Mrs. Hobbs for leading this important movement.
LUNCHTIME ACTIVITIES
Last Friday during both lunches, students culminated National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week by stopping by the lunch table to write why they want to “SHATTER THE MYTHS” and stay away from drugs and alcohol.
AP TEST Fees
AP parents and students: The Total Registration site had a February 8, 2019 deadline for AP test fees. This supersedes any dates previously published. CHS is honoring the February 8th date as the last day for payment without a $10.00 late fee per exam.

SOFTBALL OPEN FIELD
Attention all girls interested in trying out for softball- there will be open field this Wednesday and Thursday on the varsity field from 2:45-4pm. All coaches will be at the field and we hope to see you there. Tryouts are after school next week, February 4th through the 8th. Please bring all gear to the field with you.

Parents/guardians and Seniors: Goldbeck Photography will here during 1st hour on Friday, February 1st, 2019 to take the annual senior panoramic photo in the courtyard.
Dress code is enforced; no hats, hoods, sunglasses, bandanas, no banners or signs, etc. will be permitted. It will be chilly so students should dress warmly. Goldbeck Photography will return on Monday, February 4th and Tuesday, February 5th during A&B Lunches to sell you your photos.
