NEWS and NOTES
We have 16 days of instruction left in the year! Notice I didn't say "days" left....this is time to continue to push engaging instruction to get them prepared for next year. Engaging, interactive instruction is the key to reducing the disciplinary concerns that arise the last few weeks of school. Let's not count down the days, but make the days count!!
An updated Transformation Zone Instructional Audit Schedule is attached. There have been additional modifications since the email I sent on Tuesday, including PLC schedules for the week. The correct schedule is above in the WHEN AND WHERE TO BE THERE section. Basically, Tuesday PLC's will be moved to Thursday to accommodate the visit. Thanks for your flexibility!!!! Also, walkthroughs will be occurring throughout the day. I expect we will provide the team with excellent examples of rigorous, intentional instruction.
Short observations will continue this week. I will be focusing on the posting and alignment of I CAN statements, the referencing of these statements throughout the lesson, and how you gradually release content to students. Instruction must be intentional and directly tied to the purpose of the lesson. It is not enough to keep students busy....how are engaging them in a rigorous and intentional manner?
I am attaching the information I shared earlier this week for wrapping up evaluations this year, especially artifacts and SLO's. The last artifact upload is due May 29th...so make sure that we are caught up on these. You need to have evidence for each indicator in Domains 1 & 3...if its not there, I will score these areas based on evidence I have available. I have sent multiple reminders....let me know if you have any questions. All summative evaluations (Teacher Effectiveness Rubric/TER and SLO's) will be completed by 6/8/16. Summative conferences will be scheduled to discuss both the 2015-16 and 2016-17 school years.
I have seen some great examples of student data folders during your PLC's. This was an area that we needed to grow in after our IDOE visit.....and it looks like we have grown! I have taken some evidences of this work from some of you- if you have electronic examples, please share with me. THANKS!
Field Day will be held on Wednesday, June 1st.....I know some Ms. Norman will be leading this charge (THANKS!). We are also going to have some snacks/drinks donated through Mr. Franklin's faith partnership (THANKS!). The schedule is forthcoming.
