Word for the Warrior..
Dear Warriors,
I want to take a minute as we approach Thanksgiving to tell you that this year more than ever, I realize how grateful that I am for YOU and for our Sevier family. I know I do not say THANK YOU enough and I never ever want to take what happens at Sevier on a daily basis for granted.
It is very gratifying and empowering to know that when we come to work each morning, we join a team of people to accomplish our work. The work we do each day to support students matters and it's really hard. What I appreciate is that while it is hard and sometimes the answers to our dilemmas have yet to be found, what it isn't...is scary. How scary would our work be if we didn’t have each other?! I am secure in knowing that we have each other’s backs and we all have the same hopes and the same goals for our kids. What I love is that we are secure enough to be ok with the idea that we may not always agree, but we are confident enough in each other to know that dissonance often brings us to a better outcome than what any of us could come up with on our own. I love that like a family, we accept one another and love each other, regardless. The sense of community we have for each other and for our work is strong at Sevier and I value that the work isn't yours and isn't mine...it's OURS.
I am also proud that our work is focused on our kids. You are fierce in your loyalty and support for our kids. You are relentless in seeking solutions to help our kids win! You challenge each other to be better. You listen to each other and learn from each other, humbling yourselves to know that none of us alone have all the answers. You are vulnerable and transparent in your needs and you are not afraid to speak up when something is not working. Likewise, when you are experiencing success, you SHARE that success so we can all benefit! This is just not the story in every school. You are a special group. You are others focused and that all leads back to us being able to be great for our kids.
I have just been overwhelmed lately at what seems to be your endless supply of generosity and giving that you all have for our kids. Your grace and mercy for our kids really is new every morning. Each day you come to school hoping for the best for each child and you push each child to be their best behaviorally and academically. Your belief in our kids never runs out. You are constantly working to support the WHOLE child. When our kids need Thanksgiving meals, you give. When our kids need meals delivered, you volunteer to take food to their homes. When you find out that a family is in need of money to pay an electric bill, someone anonymously gives so that the lights can come back on. When we find out that many of our kids won't have Christmas presents, an Angel tree with our Sevier angels appears in counseling and you take our kids and adopt them as your own so they have Christmas. Abundant and endless love is what you have for our kids and our families. I have never seen anything like it.
And while you are outstanding educators and humanitarians, you are also just FUN! There is not a day that goes by when I don't laugh until I cry! I love that we can play as hard as we work! We KNOW the value that Food Trucks, Friendsgivings, Spirit Weeks and a good Jeans Day can bring and we take FULL ADVANTAGE of those times because we know that those are the things that can fill us up and they bring us together!
We really couldn't have a better name that characterizes us more than WARRIORS. Thank you for being Warriors in all you do. You are Warriors in the classroom! You are Warriors as you champion for the needs your kids and families have OUT of the classroom. And you are Warriors for each other!
I AM GRATEFUL!

Coffee Cart-Feel Good Friday
Feel Good Friday just keeps getting better! Stephen Baker had the awesome idea to start up a coffee cart for the Warrior Academy kiddos and the FA-3 kiddos to run together on Friday mornings. The cost will be $1.00 per cup, and we have creamers and sweeteners as well!
The funds will just replenish the cart from week to week, but the personal interaction and functional skills the kids are going to learn from this will be invaluable! I am looking forward to watching them grow throughout the year and build relationships with you all through this venture!
I have included the Google Sheet that we will use each week to fill orders. There is a cell for your name, classroom number for 1st period assignments, type of drink, and if you need a disposable cup, or if you'll have your own mug for us to make it in!
Thank you all in advance for your support of this fun idea, and to Baker for getting it all together. I love our big Warrior Tribe!
Thanks again!
Baker and Megan
