Tyngsborough Elementary School
Update 10/1/18
Happy October! By now, everyone has adjusted to the routine. It's so wonderful to see the excitement and energy throughout our school.
Message from our Health Office
We hope your children have had a healthy and active first month of school! Now that the weather is starting to change, we are starting to see student complaining of sore throats (strep throat) , ear aches, stomach aches, and cold/flu symptoms. It seems as though illnesses are starting early this year! Here are a few things students can do to help prevent illness:
-Bring a refillable water bottle to school everyday
-Use good hand hygiene
-Dressing appropriate for the weather. This time of year it’s always good to dress in layers with the cool mornings and warmer afternoons.
-Stay home when sick: see our health website: https://www.tyngsboroughps.org/health-services-20c5539f
-As flu season approaches be sure to get your flu shot. https://www.mass.gov/influenza
PLEASE BE SURE YOUR CHILD HAS A CHANGE OF CLOTHING IN THEIR LOCKER AND SNEAKERS FOR GYM. Many students in all grades have required a change of clothes (for spills at lunch, accidents, or recess mishaps) and forget to wear sneakers for gym.
Please be sure to fill out the Power School Student Information Form. Students will not be able to attend field trips if this is not completed per Tyngsborough Public School Committee Policy 5.20 or receive medication while in school. For assistance please contact John Chmilarski john.chmilarski@tyngsboroughps.org
Allergy Education: We will be starting Allergy Education in grades k-2 this week. Here is the video they will be watching:

Grade 4 Band/Sign-up for Learning an Instrument During the School Day
On September 21st, Grade 4 students (and Grade 5 students new to TES) attended a presentation by members of the Grade 7-12 Concert Band. All of the primary musical instruments were demonstrated with the goal of inspiring each student to begin learning how to play an instrument. Each student went home with a gold-colored registration form and letter containing information on how to get started in the Band Program. (Additional forms are available in the main office.) Instrument instruction/Band will take place during the school day. Interested students should return the registration form to their classroom teacher by Monday, October 1st. Instrument Rental Night will be held in the TES Cafeteria on Thursday, October 4th at 6:30pm. In the near future, parents of returning Band students in Grade 5 will receive an e-mail with group instrument lesson information for this school year. Contact Matt Eaton (matthew.eaton@tyngsboroughps.org) with any questions.
