The Liberty Bell Middle School Counselors will be going out into the community to meet with families and visit students. Every Wednesday, we will be visiting a different area of Johnson City. We will have snacks as well as resource flyers with information we want to share. Please stop by, say hello, and grab a snack – we would love to see you!
Our first stop will be the Keystone Community, drop by between 11am-1pm to visit with us.
LB 2019-2020 Yearbooks
We have distributed the yearbooks for current in-person 8th grade learners. Remote learners can pick up yearbooks on Wednesdays beginning Wednesday, September 16th.
For 9th graders, Morgan Rabo, the yearbook sponsor for Science Hill, is planning a distribution to students at that campus within the next two weeks.
JCS to provide free breakfast and lunch for children 18 and under
Johnson City Schools is pleased to announce that with the action taken by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), free breakfast and lunch will be provided to any child 18 and under until December 31, 2020.
“Allowing all children to receive free meals prioritizes the role that good nutrition plays for effective learning,” Supervisor of Food Service Karen McGahey said. “We encourage all of our families to take full advantage of this benefit as it directly affects and helps the most vulnerable in our community – our children.”
Free and reduced applications are still being collected and processed and it is recommended that families continue this process to be prepared for when the universal free option ceases.
The action taken by the USDA means that Johnson City Schools can:
- ANY child, 18 and under, will receive free meals. They do not have to be enrolled in a Johnson City school.
- Parents picking up meals for students not in attendance will be required to certify proof of parental oversite and list the names of children who will receive the meals.
- Breakfast and lunch may be distributed at the same time.
- Only two meals per day may be offered, per child.
- Meals can now be distributed during school closures such as Fall Break, Thanksgiving, and Winter Break.
For more information about our meal pick-up schedule and mobile food schedule please visit www.jcschools.org and click on the school lunch program button on the home page.
