Dates to Remember

  • December 20 - Last day of school before Christmas Holidays
  • January 6 - School starts back after Christmas Holidays - DAY 6
  • January 29 - Bell Let’s Talk Day

What's been going on...

La Zone Francophone

Students are encouraged to come to room 221 at lunch time on Day 4 for La Zone Francophone! Here students can get some more French exposure in a more relaxed environment. We have games, movies and more! Mr. Downey and Ms. O'Leary are there to help with homework too if needed. We look forward to seeing students there!

Christmas collection for the SPCA

MDJH is organizing a Christmas collection for the SPCA. Lists of items needed have been posted around the building. While new items are certainly appreciated, donations do not have to be new items. For example, if you have old collars, toys, or beds that your pet outgrew, or a partial bag of food that your pet doesn't like, those items are readily accepted. Old blankets and towels are also accepted and are used for cleaning and for pet bedding. Items can be brought to Ms. Clemens' room in 206 each day during homeroom.

MDJH Christmas countdown!

  • Saady Claus is coming to MDJH! You might not recognize him in his suit but Ahmad Saady will be moonlighting as the jolly elf so you can take a picture with him, on December 16-19, during lunch. Cost is $2/ per student. Tell Saady Claus your Christmas wish and money raised will go to Children's WISH!
  • Please see below for fun activities for the last week of school.
  • There will be a pancake breakfast in the morning on Friday, December 20. Students will attend with their classes. Sorry, the pancakes probably won't look like the picture.....

Yearbook 2019-2020

It is not too early to submit pictures for the 2019-2020 yearbook. If you have a team picture, please email to colettequann@nlesd.ca. If sending from a cell phone, please select actual size when emailing. This ensures the quality is not compromised when uploading to the yearbook site.

Celebrate Student Success

We want to acknowledge and celebrate the accomplishments of the students of MDJH. We have a wall of celebration where we will place a certificate of acknowledgement highlighting participation and success in a variety of activities. We want to know if your child has participated in any plays, musicals or has been on a team that has won some title or has been recognized in any individual competition. We need your help with this. Please let us know so we can proudly display this on our wall. Please email colettequann@nlesd.ca with Celebrate YOUR CHILD’S NAME in the subject line.

WE Create Change

MDJH is a WISH school. In the last year and a half, we have raised $7600 for this program by collecting change from students and by holding various fundraisers. We are close to our goal of $10,000 - the amount needed to grant a wish for a child. If we are successful in reaching our goal, we will grant the wish of a child in our own school community. Students are asked to take change left over from recess and lunch and put it in the wish jars that are in every homeroom. If every student donated $3 we would reach our goal and be able to grant a wish.
