Our Vision: Learning and Growing in Christ
Dear Parents and Caregivers
"Peace to this house!"
The title of today's sharing has been taken directly from the Gospel for Sunday,
Luke 10: 1-12, 17-20.
Jesus sent out his disciples and instructed them to let these words be the first words they said when entering a house. When we are involved in a house blessing these words are the first words we say.
We all need to hear these words: ‘Peace to this house, peace to this heart, peace to this family, this situation, this county, this world.’
As disciples of Jesus we are called to be facilitators of that peace in the situations we find ourselves in. We know that some people will welcome our peace while others will not. Jesus encourages us to move on if people refuse to accept the peace we desire to offer. You may readily think of situations in your own life where you have received the cold shoulder. We do our best but will not always achieve the end we desire.
As disciples of Christ we have a responsibility to share God's life and mission for the world. We are 'pieces of God' sent out to share the peace of Christ.
We first need to have welcomed the peace of Christ into our hearts. May that peace be
yours today.
We continue to pray for Ukraine, Sri Lanka, Colombia, Afghanistan, the Yemen, Bangladesh, the list goes on.........."Peace to this house"!
Blessings on your week.
Masses
Our final full school Mass for the term will be held at 9am Wednesday, 6th July. As we continue to be under the Covid Orange Traffic Light this will be a school only event.
Our school is rostered to lead the 10am Parish Mass for the 5th Sunday of the month which will be on Sunday, 31st July. This is the Sunday following our first week back at school for Term 3 and we hope our families will support us as all are welcome.
Year 4 Students Reconciliation
Congratulations to all our Year 4 students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation last Wednesday 29th June. Thank you to Father Andrew, Father Albert and the visiting priests who assisted in this Sacrament. I wish to acknowledge the teachers who helped to prepare the children for this service.
Message from the Principal
Dear Parents
Another term is drawing to an end and we are pleased to be meeting with you all this week so we can share with you, your child’s progress and achievements and discuss their future learning goals for the second half of the year.
If you haven’t made an interview time please do so as most teachers have some spaces still available. Please be aware that some classes have had to alter their schedules because of isolation and you will have received notifications of this.
On Friday all the students’ reports were emailed out and everyone should have received them. If you have not, please contact Sue Bell via email office@hcsp.nz or telephone the school 09 2988224.
School Closes at 2.50pm on Friday and reopens for Term 3 on Monday 25 July at 8.45am. We trust everyone will have a well deserved break and use this time to relax and refresh ready for the new term. All children will receive their new Duffy Books that have been sponsored by the Government to provide all students with some interesting new reading material for the holidays. Hopefully, all the children who are members of their local Auckland Library will also use this service for recreational reading over the holidays.
Blessings and I wish you all a safe, relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Arohanui.

Parent/Teacher/Student Interviews
On Monday 4th and Wednesday 6th July, while Parent Interviews are taking place, all the children will be sent to the hall from 1.50 pm to be supervised until the end of school day. If you are collecting children for their interview, please collect them from the hall.
At 2.50 pm children will be dismissed in the usual manner. Please do not take other children home with you unless prior arrangements with their families have been made.
Covid, Masks and Testing
Last week we were hit with a wave of cases in the school. We will continue to encourage adults and children from Year 3 and up to wear masks and be proactive with personal hygiene and sanitizing.
If any one has cold or flu like symptoms please take a RAT to ensure you do not have COVID. Thank you for your support in this matter.
Hand Sanitiser
We have had several boxes of small bottles of hand sanitiser donated to the school which we wish to distribute to any families who may need them.
If anyone would like some hand sanistiser please collect it from the office. Unfortunately we are not allowed to send it home with students, an adult must collect it.
Non uniform Day Friday 8th July
We will conclude this term with a non-uniform day on Friday 8 July. Your child will bring home a notice asking for a grocery item. These grocery items will be used for our PTFA Family Bingo night grocery hampers.
The Bingo evening will be held in the hall on Friday 29 July.
AiMS Disco and Dinners
Congratulations to all our Year 4 students who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation last Wednesday 29th June. Thank you to Father Andrew, Father Albert and the visiting priests who assisted in this Sacrament. I wish to acknowledge the teachers who helped to prepare the children for this service.
Reading Degree Ceremonies
Congratulations to our Years 5 & 6 students who have read their way to great heights this term. They will be capped at their Reading Degree Ceremonies on Thursday 7th July.
From this experience, I hope that they will now understand the importance of being a lifelong reader who values reading both as a source of knowledge and as a recreational activity.
School Hours
We are concerned about the consistent number of students arriving late to school on a regular basis as this is not teaching them to self manage and be on time for events. School starts at 8.45am and all students are expected to be in class and ready to start their learning at that time.
Our school day finishes at 2.50pm and we expect all children to be off site by 3.15pm or 3.30pm at the latest. Children are not supervised after this time as teachers are either attending meetings, coaching sport, involved in classroom preparation or off site at netball or professional development.
NO School Lunches this Week
Due to the fact that we have no volunteers to cover lunches this week we have cancelled Lunch Orders..
There will be NO School Lunches on Friday 8 July.
Intermediate Sports
Our Year 7 Soccer Team will be playing in the Auckland Zone Finals today and we wish them all the best. They have been training very hard to further develop their skills.
Tomorrow our Intermediate Hockey Team will be competing in the Southern Zone Tournament. This team has trained hard considering the limited time leading up to this tournament and we are very proud of their efforts. We wish this team all the best for tomorrow.
