Bond Issue on April 5 Ballot
The Board on Dec. 17, 2015, unanimously approved placing the bond issue on the ballot. The general obligation bond issue is necessary to fund the improvements outlined in the District’s Long Range Facility Plan. In introducing the measure, Superintendent Dr. Kari Monsees emphasized that the bond issue will not require an increase in the tax levy.
In addition to the high school expansion, other elements of the plan include:
- North high school building becomes second middle school
- Modifications to Bridle Ridge and Eagle Glen to serve grades K-5
- Convert Shull Elementary into an Early Childhood Center
- Maintenance projects throughout the District
The Long Range Facility Plan, which was unanimously approved by the Board on Sept. 24 after a yearlong development process, addresses the majority of space needs anticipated by the District over the next 8 to 10 years. The plan includes the most aggressive timeline possible to resolve the two-building high school situation.

Turn in Box Top & UPC Labels by February 12
Congratulations to Mrs. Kiger's and Mrs. Welch's class who have both earned popsicle parties for being top Box Top donators! Our PTA receives a 10 cent reimbursement for every properly cut, non-expired UPC Box Top donated.
Please send Box Top and UPC labels from Campbells, Tyson, Prego, V8, Pace and Best Choice in Ziploc baggies to school with your child's name and teacher's name written on the baggie.
Please remember to cut out labels along the dotted lines. This enables PTA to receive your labels and send them immediately for reimbursement without having to spend additional time cutting around the dotted lines of each label.
PTA graciously thanks you for your donations!

Safet Seat, Buddy Room, Focus Room...What's the Difference?
If a student is disrupting the learning environment, the student will first receive a redirect or warning. If the student continues to struggle, the teacher will direct the student to the safe seat in their classroom. If the disruption continues to occur, the student will be asked to move again to a safe seat in a buddy classroom. The student will be asked to move to a safe seat in the focus room if the student is still struggling. If the student is unable to calm or follow directions in the focus room, the student will be asked to move to the safe seat in the office.
Students are asked to complete a, "Think Sheet," while in a safe seat to think about the problem that was occurring and how to fix the problem. Typically, disruptions stop in the classroom safe seat and the student is able to get back on track quickly. At all points on the continuum, the teacher processes with the student, asks the student to practice missing skills and discusses strategies to help the student succeed.
Once the student has processed with an adult, is calm, and has practiced using a safe body and kind words, the student will work their way back to their classroom seat in reverse order through the B.I.S.T. safe seat continuum.
The safe seat continuum is followed unless a student receives an office referral. With an office referral, the student bypasses the continuum and is directed to the principal's office.
