Ridgewood Library Refresh Survey

Please take a couple minutes to let us know what you love about our library and what ideas you have to make it even better. Students and staff will take separate surveys.

Our Lost & Found is Overflowing

Ridgewood’s lost and found is already overflowing! Any items without a name will be bagged up on 12/20, so please take a look for any missing items before then. Items left behind will be sorted, cleaned, and donated to the Beaverton School District Clothes Closet if they are in good condition, but many do not meet the guidelines.

Last school year, over six garbage bags of clothing were donated because of no labels. Please consider taking a sharpie and writing your child’s name on the clothing tag/washing instructions to avoid any clothing going to waste.

Report Cards are Going Paperless

The Beaverton School District is transitioning to electronic report cards for all students. The electronic report cards will be accessed through ParentVUE (mobile and desktop). If you have not set up your ParentVUE account, you will need to do that by January 2020.

There are resources and guidance on how to set up a ParentVue account. Please view the FAQ for instructions on setting up your account. There are several benefits to moving to paperless report cards. You will be able to view grades days after grading days, rather than wait up to two weeks for a report card to come by mail or in your child’s backpack. In addition, moving away from paper is environmentally friendly and cost-effective for the District.

Please contact your school if you need help setting up or accessing your ParentVUE account or need assistance with a printed copy. We will be sharing more information about this transition in the coming weeks.

Hand washing & sanitzing

This fall we began a system of washing hands before entering the cafeteria, after lunch recess. However, we do not have enough staff to ensure that students are properly washing before going to the cafeteria for lunch. So, beginning next week, we will return to using hand sanitizer as students line up and enter the building for lunch. We will use sanitizer that meets these standards:

  • be at least 60% alcohol
  • be fragrance‐free and dye‐free

Students who wish to wash their hands will be allowed to wash in the Red Hall restrooms on their way to lunch. Students may also choose to use sanitizer brought from home. By moving to this method, we will be able to ensure that each child sanitizes or washes their hands before eating lunch. We will continue to remind students the importance of good hand washing/sanitizing for keeping us all healthy.

Health Screenings

Ridgewood will be conducting hearing screenings for all students in grades K-2 on Dec. 13.

Vision screening for all Ridgewood students will take place on Dec. 18. If your child wears glasses, please make sure they bring them to school that day.

Please notify the office in writing if you do not want your student(s) screened for either or both of these services.

Change of After School Plans?

If you need to let us know about a change of end-of-day transportation plans, please call or email the office no later than 2pm. You may call the office at 503-356-2440 or email us at Please do not send emails to individual staff emails, as we won't get the message if the staff member is out that day.

The 2:00p.m. deadline allows us to communicate the changes to all affected students and teachers prior to dismissal. Since we typically have a large number of changes each day, we may not be able to accommodate your request if you call after 2:00p.m.
