First Grade News
We will have our spelling pre test and learn our new word chunk "all". We will talk about fiction and non fiction books. We will have Daily 5 centers. We will write about what we did on the weekend. We will practice doubles and near doubles in math. We will learn about different how different cultures celebrate holidays in Social Studies. Today we will learn about India and the celebration of Diwali.
We will go to the Computer Lab and check out new library books. We will talk about fiction and non fiction books. We will have Daily 5 centers. We will practice doubles and near doubles in math. We will go to a band and choir concert. We will learn about the country of Sweden and a holiday they celebrate called St. Lucia.
We will practice putting our spelling words in ABC order. We will look at fiction and non fiction books that we read to see if we can tell the difference. We will have Daily 5 centers. We will write questions to a reindeer using question words. We will practice doubles and near doubles. We will meet with our 5th Grade buddies!
We will play spelling sparkle to practice spelling. We will be fiction and non fiction detectives when we are reading. We will have Daily 5 centers. We will finish our reindeer writing. We will practice addition facts with ten frames with 5 and 10. We will learn about the holiday celebrated in Israel called Hanukkah.
We will have our book exchange! Don't forget your book! We will learn about the holiday of Christmas and how it is celebrated in the United States. We will celebrate our last day together before winter break. We will talk about things we can do over break to keep reading, writing, and doing math. HAVE A WONDERFUL BREAK!

Thank you for helping your child remember to do their math video homework when required last week. I know schedules can be very busy, so we won't have a video every night. This week there are only two videos to watch. Your child should be able to locate the videos in Google Classroom which can be accessed through a link on their iPad. They should know how to do this. Please check with your child each time they watch a video to make sure they understand the video and do ANY homework activity that may be a part of the video.
