We Are Together Tamanend!

May 28, 2013

Memorial Day Parade

Yesterday, the Tamanend Marching Band was impressive as they joined all other CB middle and high school marching bands in the 147th Doylestown Memorial Day Parade. The oldest parade of its kind in our country, the Doylestown Memorial Day Parade saw a record-breaking crowd as we honored the soldiers who have sacrificed everything for our country.

Holocaust Survivor Speaks to TMS Students

The 9th grade class was privileged to hear from Holocaust survivor David Tuck on May 17th. We welcomed Mr. Tuck back to Tamanend to share his incredible story of fortitude and strength from when he was removed from his home in Poland in 1940, ultimately ending up at Auschwitz Concentration Camp at the age of 12. His remarkable story of survival and then emigration to America is a powerful one that reminds us of how much we have to be grateful for, and also the power of resilience when we are faced with adversity in our lives. Mr. Tuck repeated to us how fortunate he feels to be alive after all of these years, and also how it is vital that we persevere through the challenges in our lives, never giving up.

Award Winning Students

Principal's Recognition Ceremony

Congratulations to the 308 students who received Principal's Recognition last week for having an average GPA for the first three marking periods of at least a 3.75. Julia F. delivered an insightful speech on "using your head" and persevering. Sixty-two students received additional recognition for having a straight 4.0 GPA for the year so far. We are so proud of all of our students' accomplishments and the overwhelming family support that was evident by the standing-room-only audience! Remember, we still have a month to go this school year. As Julia so eloquently put it... "finish strong."
